This is sludge, made up of, rust and corrosion from radiators and anything steel on the system or pipe work. If you don’t dose your system correctly with the right chemicals, this stuff clogs the pipe work, preventing radiators from getting hot. It means a cold house and possibly no hot water.

Upgraded to a beast of a boiler. 10 year warranty.

The offending power max boiler troll in the cupboard was removed, discarded safely and now is forgotten.

This blocked heat exchange could not deliver any hot water. One side of it was blocked, causing all the radiators to heat up when the customer ran any tap
in the house. Plus the diverter had leaked into the motor and both had siezed. All 3 parts replaced back up and singing in the shower has resumed.

Make sure you regularly clean out the magnetic filter by your heating engineer. It will serve 2 purposes. Firstly, all dirt will be removed to keep the system ticking over and healthy.
And secondly any additional chemicals need to be dosed into the system can be done at the same time to continue protecting the system from rust.
Ideally this would be done at the service.

If you own an intergas boiler then some appliances will need a new seal, contact us for a free quote. Although the gas safe website doesn’t say it’s urgent. On the next schedule yearly service this can be done very easily.
