"Cherish every moment"....REALLY?!! πΆπ»
This was one of my favourite pieces of advice from (well meaning) people when my daughter was a baby....I don't understand how anyone can cherish EVERY moment- you're telling me I'm supposed to enjoy being woken up every hour?!
It's a VERY early hello from me this morning- my daughter woke up at 5.30am π
Why are kids such sleep thieves?!! Having said that, this is nothing compared to the lack of sleep when she was a baby- that was another level!
I just sent out this gorgeous baby blanket for a newborn baby boy and it got me thinking about those early days, (weeks, months...years) the lack of sleep and how tough it can be, your heart bursting with love for this tiny human you've created but at the same time crying through the pain of breastfeeding, your body still hurting, lack of sleep & all these hormones racing around your body....it's hard! And to anyone going through that right now, just know you're not alone and you will get through it. Ask for help, speak to friends/family that have been there and understand.
Yes you should cherish the good times and those snuggles, the smell of their skin, their tiny hands and feet, the first time they smile at you or laugh....they are all amazing, wonderful moments, but it's also OK to speak up when you're struggling and not feel guilty π€
Right, I'm off to find some matchsticks for these drooping eyelids π΄
