URGENT: Box Caterpillar Alert! 🚨
We’re seeing a massive spike in box caterpillar activity this May. With the rising temperatures, these pests are emerging in force and they aren’t picky eaters.
Why the panic?
The box caterpillar is notoriously aggressive. They feed from the inside out, meaning your hedge can look fine one day and be completely defoliated the next. By the time you notice the damage, it’s often too late!
🔍 What to do RIGHT NOW:
Inspect Deeply: Don’t just look at the surface. Peek inside the foliage for greenish-yellow caterpillars or tell-tale white webbing.
Act Fast: Early intervention is the only way to save your Buxus (box hedging).
Prevention is Key: Even if you don’t see them yet, a preventative treatment is the best way to keep your hedges green and healthy during this peak window.
Don’t wait until your hedge is a skeleton! 🌿
