Brilliant blues from an amazing workshop with in July. We harvested woad, extracted the indigo and made a vat to dye this lovely local Norfolk Horn yarn. From left, dipped around 5 times, for a minute or two each, and to the right, dipped just once.
Second pic shows my woad bed growing nicely in July, with brilliant seeds from . I managed two harvests before the caterpillars took over... And the third picture is Japanese Indigo from today, planted at the end of July from cuttings, thanks Jenn! Cabbage whites don't seem too interested in this yet?! Fingers crossed!

Mordant printing with hawthorn, from a self seeded stem which appeared in the flower bed. I can't believe how little plant material (scroll to last pic) it took for such a deep colour, literally a few snippets of twigs and leaves.
