From bare plaster to fresh white walls! 🤍🎨

Another room, another transformation!

This bedroom is part of a bigger decorating project I've been working on, and this is where we're starting.

The walls were freshly plastered, so the first job was getting everything properly prepared before bringing in the paint.

A fresh white finish on the walls and ceiling, with the skirting boards and other woodwork painted white too.

And we're not finished with this house yet! The hallway and staircase transformation is coming next, so keep an eye out. 👀

Small room, BIG transformation! 😮🎨

You'd think a tiny utility room would be a quick and easy job, wouldn't you? Well… not this one! 😂

After stripping away the old wallpaper, I was left with walls and a ceiling that needed a serious amount of attention.

There was plenty of scraping, sanding, filling and preparation before I could even think about picking up a paintbrush!

And once again, Zinsser Gardz came to the rescue, helping to stabilise those troublesome surfaces before decorating.

But just look at the difference! 👀

From tired, damaged walls to a fresh, smooth finish with lovely grey walls and crisp white woodwork.

It might be one of the smallest rooms in the house, but it certainly wasn't the smallest job!

Hope you’re not getting bored of the windows yet 😄

These are the last photos from this exterior job, this time the ground floor windows.

Same process as before I removed the loose and peeling paint, sanded everything down properly, applied primer where needed and then finished with fresh paint.

Next post will be a completely different little project a small box room.

It might look like there wasn’t much to do in there, but there was actually quite a bit of prep involved. As usual, Zinsser Gardz came to the rescue, especially as the walls had previously been wallpapered.

I’ll show you that one next 👍

A few more photos from this exterior job.

I showed the windows before, so this time it’s the porch and front door.

There was quite a lot of peeling paint, so I scraped off anything loose, gave everything a good sand, used primer where it was needed and then painted it all.

A fair bit of prep on this one, but I think it’s made a big difference. The porch especially looks much fresher now.

Another part of the exterior window project finished this time the higher windows.

The woodwork was sanded, small damaged areas repaired, primer applied and then everything was finished in white.

A lot of preparation for what looks like a simple refresh, but it makes such a difference to the final finish.

It’s not going to be easy, but I’ve got this

Today, a few before and after photos from the outside. This time it’s the wooden windows.

I sanded them down, did a few small repairs, applied a primer and then painted them white.

Why is primer so important, especially outside? It helps the paint bond properly to the surface, seals the bare or repaired wood and gives it extra protection against moisture and changing weather. It also helps the final coats last longer, which is definitely important with exterior woodwork.

There’s still more to come from this project the windows and window sills higher up, some work lower down, and the porch too. 👍

Another couple of rooms from last project - before & after. 👌

These walls had been freshly plastered, so I started with a few small repairs, sanding and then a mist coat before moving on to the final colour. The ceilings were finished in white.

On this project I was only working on the walls and ceilings the doors, skirting boards and other woodwork were left as they were.

You can see the other rooms from this house in my previous posts below.

Now for the next part of this project the entrance and hallway.

The conservatory from this house is in my previous post, and here you can see the hallway area by the main entrance.

For this part, the walls and ceilings were sanded and painted fresh white throughout. I didn’t paint the woodwork this time, and the flooring is being changed later, so the main focus was to get the walls and ceilings looking clean and fresh.

The next post will be the living room, and I’ll try to add a video from this house as well.
