Spent a day helping this little fruit corner along…and typically in my busybeeness forgot to take an ‘after’ shot 🤦🏼‍♀️ snowberry suckers have been dug out to make room for the growing fruit trees, apples, pears and a quince alongside lots of blackberries and raspberries. The hardy geraniums have been cut back to hopefully allow for a second flush of flowers before autumn! It looks lovely…promise! 😆

Allotment is looking lush and growing actual food! I find lettuce one of the most satisfying and beautiful little things to grow. I’m not sure why mine don’t get eaten by the critters, it might be luck or it may be the pond and not weeding too much means we have a pretty balanced eco system on the plot. Either way, the lettuce is winning!

I’ve added some curved beds and soon to be swathey planting to this garden. Grasses to catch the light, persicaria and verbena bonariensis for tall flowers that bees love and that provide views through stems. There’s a small wildlife pond for the kiddos that will soon be surrounded by hardy geraniums and scented herbs. We’ve kept the lawn generous but it will be planted up with lots of bulbs in autumn and some wildflower plugs. We can have a wilder meadow vibe or mow interesting pathways through it for small adventurers and wildlife to explore! I’m excited to see this one grow 💚

Even with a ‘tidy’ I like to leave space for biodiversity and wildlife. They bring the garden alive and it’s still as exciting as when I was a kid to look and see what’s growing and what’s living in there.

Made a little wildlife pond for two small adventurers. What a lovely way to bring life into your garden. I’ve edged this one with mint, oregano and chives for the kids to explore scent and taste alongside hardy geraniums and a beautiful marsh marigold for early colour and nectar. My favourite bit was tucking that glorious moss into the rocky crevices.

The first year we have had a full bloom on the magnolia tree I planted in the front garden 6 years ago! It is joyful! And the blooms smell and taste of ginger and cardamom…I keep plucking them off for a nibble. If you haven’t tried them they make a lovely tea ☕️

I forget what is planted at the allotment and it’s magic every year when forget me nots and hardy geraniums start popping up around the pond. Wild leeks and garlic in the shade of the apple tree alongside phlox which will be a fluffy sea of blooms in summer! MAGIC

Springy allotment times! Today I planted chard, radishes, peas and sunflowers. Our allotment neighbour gifted us some sweetheart cabbage and little gem seedlings and it felt very abundant and full of promise! The rhubarb and sorrel have gone bonkers in the best way and I realise I have created a sour patch which I am very happy about. 💚
