We are delighted to announce that our Charity of the Year is Macmillan Cancer Support!

Cancer impacts the lives of so many, whether it’s those living with cancer or the family and friends supporting a loved one through what is an incredibly difficult experience. Many of our team have first-hand experience of the impact cancer can have, which makes this charity a natural and meaningful choice for us.

Throughout 2026, we’re looking forward to raising as much as we can to support the incredible work that Macmillan Cancer Support does - providing vital medical, emotional, and financial support to people affected by cancer.

We can’t wait to get started and make a difference together!

Sable House just keeps getting better!

This stunning home was handed over to our clients in July, and since then, the garden has begun its own transformation, evolving into something truly special.

Soft planting now surrounds the house, gently framing the architecture and helping it settle naturally into the landscape. A corten steel water feature, perfectly framed through a gap in the brick wall (crafted from reclaimed bricks from the original home on site), adds texture, warmth, and a quiet nod to the site’s history.

Every view has been thoughtfully composed, creating layered moments of connection between the house and garden from every angle.

A beautiful example of architecture and landscape working in harmony.

Sable House has been handed over to our delighted clients!

This striking new build replacement home, set within Green Belt land and with impressive views over the surrounding fields, is a stunning example of how texture, colour and materiality can be composed thoughtfully in a minimal, contemporary design.

The texture of the charred black cladding contrasts with the clean lines of the extensive glazing, that open to carefully framed views out to the immediate site and countryside beyond.

The building’s plinth and landscape walls use bricks painstakingly salvaged from the previous house on site, as a homage to the home where the clients had raised their children.

The drama of this house is mirrored internally, with a sculptural curving staircase set within a triple height atrium, drawing you upstairs to the master suite and views beyond. Downstairs, the hub is the kitchen / living / dining space, with 360-degree views across the courtyard gardens, fields, and woodlands. This new, modern home is constructed with an eco-conscious approach bolstered with the latest sustainable technologies.

The clients’ passion and Jenbrooke Construction Ltd’s attention to detail on this build have truly elevated the finished house, bringing our shared vision for a bold and sleek forever home to life.

With the landscaping set to be completed later in the year, we look forward to sharing further progress with you.

Today we are celebrating The Straw House!

This home is a highly innovative eco-house in the open countryside that was granted planning permission under the NPPF Paragraph 55 policy, recognising that the project is “truly outstanding or innovative, reflective or innovative, reflecting the highest standards in architecture”.

The house has sustainability at it's heart, using local, natural material with low embodied energy, combined with energy efficient design, the building’s form and technologies. The proposal draws inspiration from and builds on the success of the Flower Pod, an award winning straw bale building designed by AJA in Southwell for Reach Charity. The walls will be constructed in compressed straw bales from a local farm and lime rendered. Timber shingles from a Nottinghamshire saw mill will clad the curved, distinctive roof which is insulated with sheep’s wool.

The house has been designed and assessed through the PHPP modelling system to meet Passivhaus standards. This requires exceptional thermal insulation, utilisation of passive solar heat and extremely air tight construction to reduce energy demand for heating to a minimum.

This week we have some fabulous homes which meet Passivhaus Standards to share with you.

Today is the very special… Walled Garden House! a Paragraph 80 eco-home which has been granted planning permission for its ‘Truly Outstanding’ design!

This rural site was once a walled kitchen garden for a Victorian country house which provided a wonderful variety of produce. The family and gardeners were renowned for their use of technology to create a self-sustaining settlement, and their descendants now want to create a home that continues that legacy.

The one-storey home will be earth sheltered, with extensive glazing to the front elevation, to reflect the appearance of a traditional glasshouse and act as sunspaces to provide passive solar heating. The T-shaped plan of the house also reflects the traditional grid layout of walled gardens and creates courtyard spaces that connect the internal rooms to the garden through biophilic design. There is a large kitchen/dining/living room to the west wing where produce from the garden can be taken to the kitchen directly. The bedrooms have wide glazed doors onto to the courtyard shared also with the master bedroom; all starting the day with morning sunlight. The wider garden landscape design is restored as a kitchen garden with food production, livestock areas and flower gardens. Both courtyards will act as smaller walled gardens, sunken into the slope of the garden with glasshouses on the south facing walls.

Our second extension of the week is The Meadow.

The original farmstead consisted of four dilapidated single storey brick outbuildings arranged around a yard. Our design involved the rebuilding and sensitive restoration of the original barns using reclaimed bricks and lime mortar. A contemporary glazed infill extension was built within the centre increasing the floor area and providing a vital connection between the barns. This space forms the central living area which is brightly lit from the lantern above and huge sliding doors which open onto a sheltered patio with beautiful views of the countryside beyond.

This week we are sharing some very special house extensions with you!

Our first extension of the week is Saltwood Cottage – a small cottage on the edge of a village that our clients wanted to turn into a family home.

The house had previously been rented and was in need of modernisation throughout. We designed a rear extension to more than double the usable space, which has the open plan kitchen diner within it. We also created a refreshed interior layout, including the relocation of the stairs, to provide more space in the original house for a larger living room, sung and dining room. Alongside this, restorative works were also done, including restoring the exposed timber joists, to maintain the character of the building. The house was also repointed, new windows were fitted throughout and contemporary composite cladding was added at the rear to break up the brick facade. A new approach and driveway were also added as part of the landscaping to improve the usability of the external space.
