Back in April we were asked to make a custom terrarium for a birthday gift. This is the last terrarium Theo made before he left the shop and what a banger to end on! The customer asked for a hobbit themed terrarium and Theo built the door from scratch, using only what we had in the shop! Springtails were added to make it bioactive and keep it clean. We are dead proud of this make and we hear the gift was well received 🤭

We’re always making terrariums, big and small. If you want help making one, need some advice on keeping them, or would like us to make you something, then pop in for a chat 💚

Tamarindus Indica (AKA Tamarind plant)

Yes, Tamarind as in the fruit! This may not bear fruits in the UK climate, but the plant itself is worth celebrating as a houseplant because the foliage is so gorgeous. So we're giving it some attention this June by making it our Plant of the Month

🌏Native to: Tropical Africa, but has been grown all around the world for centuries for its fruit
🌱Growth habit: Upwards and branching, a small tree
🌞Light: A south-facing window is ideal, they like lots of light
💧Water: Water when the topsoil is dry, these are thirsty plants
🌫️Humidity: Can tolerate average household humidity and dry air, but loves 50% and above
🌡️Temperature: Keep in a warm space, away from draughts. Anything above 16ºC is ideal
🪴Soil: Loose and well-draining, nothing too dense or chunky!
🍎Feed: A well-balanced houseplant fertiliser during the growing season
🐩Pet safe? This is considered safe for pets unless large quanties are ingested
🤔Did you know? This plant is monotypic, meaning it is the only plant in its genus!

Our Plant Swap is only a week away so I thought I’d share some of the goodies I’ve accumulated from past swaps. This is only half the plants I’ve got from trading at our plants swaps, it’s crazy how many new plants can quickly become your favourites!

If you didn’t know, this plant swap is being hosted at .venue, Saturday 30th. No ticket needed, just show up with your lovely self and some lovely plants. Trade your plants for new plants, completely free of charge. I’ve heard there’s also some art work and jewellery up for trading as well as other planty goods. We can’t wait to see you there!! 💚
