There was a reported total of 2019 chimney fires in England between April 2024 and March 2025. This figure is an improvement from 2023-2024 due to more people maintaining their chimneys on a yearly basis. HETAS and NACS (National Association of Chimney Sweeps) recommends that wood burners are swept twice a year and for solid fuels once a year.
I will add the link to the journal for your information should you wish to leave ok at the article in greater depth.
It’s great news that chimney fires are decreasing with maintenance but what is increasing is refusals of insurance payouts due to insurance companies stating that the fire could have been avoided with maintenance.
Keep safe everyone and enjoy the heat and ambiance of your fire.

‼️‼️IMPORTANT PLEASE READ‼️‼️

I want to inform my customers that I need to increase my prices in the new tax year. I have not had any increases in the past 3 years. Therefore the new price for a chimney sweep (no blockage) will be £55 from 01st April 2025. The reasons for the increase is due to the spiralling costs of supplies, insurance and maintenance costs. This has been a difficult decision but I’m confident that I am still competitively priced and that you will still get the same high quality service. If you want to avoid the increase please get booked in asap.
Kindest regards

‼️‼️ 5 reasons to get your chimney swept in the spring/summer ‼️‼️
1, When the air temperature outside is hotter, it causes the cold air inside your chimney to sink resulting in a sooty smell in your home. The hotter it is outside the stronger the smell.
2, Soot is acidic. The longer the soot sits there it will corrode your liner or eat away at your mortar.
3, If there’s a problem with your chimney, you will have time to get it repaired before the next burning season.
4, I Have plenty of availability.
5, The final reason and the most important - Chimney Sweeps are poor in the summer 😂

‼️‼️‼️SPRING CLEAN‼️‼️‼️

So when you’re spring cleaning this spring don’t neglect your winter work horse and get your chimney swept to keep your home smelling nice.

A chimney works because the air inside the chimney is lighter than the air outside of the chimney. This is based on temperature differentials.

‼️‼️Avoid smelly chimneys. ‼️‼️

Air pressure causes the cool, less buoyant air to push down around the building. Simultaneously the warm, buoyant air rises replacing the cool air.
If a chimney is colder than the air outside it’ll blow down and bring smells with it. Soot is not a pleasant smell.
Dirty chimneys get colder. Soot gets damp, as does dust. The dampness lowers the temperature and causes the air to blow down. Having the chimney cleaned will help raise the temperature as it’ll reduce the likelihood of damp.

It is recommended that you keep your fire/stove ventilated during summer months by leaving the door ajar. Having the chimney cleaned will help raise the temperature as it’ll reduce the likelihood of damp.
