The fields and hedgerows are now filling up with Lesser Knapweed, or Black Knapweed if you prefer. Did you know that this plant produces more nectar than almost any other plant on the planet! So if you want to attract bees, this is as good a plant as any.

It may be close to freezing as the hail falls, but my small woodland garden is brightening my spirits. Particularly the dicentra spectabilis, or bleeding heart which I planted just a few weeks ago and is thriving.
