Autumn is my favourite season (apart from Storms like Amy). It’s getting cold and I’ve been making up some more wheat pillows in a variety of patterns to keep us cosy! Perfect for tired eyes after a dark day looking at a bright screen, or cosying hands on a chilli walk or sitting in the waist band when you’ve got pain in your back or stomach.

She’s new 🧡 I’ve been playing about with longer cushions after a lovely person placed a custom order for a rectangle one. Here I’ve went bigger! This 60x30cm cushion with a feather insert is the only one available. I might make more if folks are interested. Pop down to the open studios today if you’d like a nosey!

I’ll be working away during the open studios again so yesterday people came to see me make natural dye pastes. Today what will I be doing? Not sure yet! I’ll pick something from my list (it’s as long as my arm! )

4 Week Project Block

Got a textiles project or idea you want to explore but no room or equipment?

Then book on to the 4 week Project Block and use the facilities at the Textile Hub, Torry - Aberdeen.

What will you get access to?

Half of the 2m fabric printing table (select 2 spaces if you want it all)
Heat press
Use of 1x squeegee
Use of 1x blank screen
Possible storage of your own screens during the block
Washout booth and screen cleaning materials
Industrial sewing machine
Quantity of newsprint for separations
Option to buy sundries directly from the studio (binder, pigment, tape etc)

You can also additionally book time with the bullet steamer. See info here.

This is a non-teaching project space but I will be there throughout in case of issues or technical support needed.

Let’s make lampshades! I’ll help you make a lampshade to professional standards. Bring your favourite fabric or buy some of my designs. Make something perfect for your home.

You will be given guidance on what fabric to bring or with picking some from Paper Houses Design fabric (if you want a specific pattern please let me know in advance). Once you have been shown how to make a lampshade you can easily make them again at home.

Make a small lampshade, 20 cm diameter. Bring your own fabric or purchase fabric from the studio for £15 .
