Can you believe that it's five years since The Vintage Advantage charity shop first opened its doors?
Originally opened in April 2021, The Vintage Advantage was created to give Derwen College students with SEND hands-on retail experience in a real customer environment, building skills and confidence that support progression into employment and greater independence.
The charity shop supports students in a wide range of ways, including their online sales sessions using eBay and World of Books, and sourcing props and outfits for student performances and events, including this year’s Alice in Wonderland themed prom, with items such as china, mirrors and other themed pieces.
Additionally the team is committed to sustainability, recycling items through student-led sales of unsold stock and working with local and national recycling partners.
We are grateful to the local community for continuing to support The Vintage Advantage; and to the funders and financial donors who helped make the whole project possible – including the Steve Morgan Foundation and Community Foundation for Staffordshire.
