The company were elected as members to the Guild of Master-Craftsmen in 1988. The company moved to it’s present location in Harbour Road, Oulton Broad in 1989, in June this year it celebrates it’s 27th anniversary providing high quality memorials locally and nationally. Howsham Memorials are the only local company who are dedicated memorial specialists their capabilities range from traditional hand cut lettering and carving to modern computer lettering and designs together with being the only local company who have the capabilities to produce their own fine art film stencil designs with over 2000 readily available, many exclusive, If the design the client requires is not readily available they will produce the artwork. One such design has won an award at a National Stone Exhibition. Two such engravings may be included on a memorial free of charge or replace any designs shown in their brochure. These designs may (where permitted) be fully coloured by their craftsmen to an exceptionally high standard. Daniel and Stephen have become accomplished memorial artists designing many bespoke memorials for their satisfied clients. Clients own artwork may be used providing it will produce a good image and reach an acceptable standard. All their new memorials come with a choice of lettering styles with 15 standard fonts to choose from, this ensures every memorial is as individual and personal as possible, the customer is given the choice of the style of lettering not the mason carrying out the work. Free scale computer print-outs are available on all new memorials enabling the customer to see the layout prior to the work commencing. There are no extra charges for gold lettering on headstones, alternative engravings or gilded or full colour designs (where permitted). On vases, desks or tablets there is not a charge for a concrete base or fixing. All new memorials over 24” high are fitted with an accredited ground anchor system for improved safety and stability. There are no commissions payable to funeral directors thus saving their clients money over large funeral groups or independent funeral directors. Another service offered by Howsham Memorials is the free arrangement and attendance of the burial of cremated remains to any person purchasing a cremation memorial, irrespective of the funeral director used for the funeral service, thus helping reduce costs at what is without doubt a very expensive time. As well as new memorials they also excel in matching additional inscriptions on existing memorials, cleaning, repairs, renovations all at a very competitive price. For additional inscriptions on memorials removed for a further interment the funeral director will usually recommend their own masonry department, often to obtain a commission at the customers expense, but by obtaining a quote from Howsham Memorials you may find a much more competitive price and if acceptable they will arrange to collect the memorial free of charge.
