The complete refurbishment of the All Saints Church Parish Room introduced contemporary upgrades to support its existing use. The works followed a Feasibility Study that explored three options: minimal intervention, an extension, or a complete rebuild. It was decided that a sensitive upgrade of the existing 1980s extension was the best solution.

The space, designed by PCC member Ian Herriott, responds to the need for a more cohesive and functional environment. This was achieved through the removal of a small internal wall, improved storage, an enlarged kitchen/servery, and complete new finishes throughout. The neutral palette of natural flint stone, original paving, and joinery offsets the darker features and subtly frames the space.

Building Safety Act and CDM Principal Designer services were delivered by Jessop and Cook throughout the project to support safe, compliant delivery. It’s great to see the project complete, made possible by a team of highly skilled contributors including Thames Ceilings Ltd and structural engineers

It's a Lego House!

Our clients are pioneering a modern method of construction called Isotex by to deliver their two-storey wrap around extension and garage in Oxford.

This system offers a highly thermally, and acoustic efficient alternative to a traditional masonry construction.

The ‘Lego-like’ modular construction method allows for extremely easy, safe and fast assembly on site, which is popular amongst self-build clients too. The blocks are made from woodcrete with integrated insulation and form both the structural and thermal envelope in one complete system which simplifies the wall build up and brings a cost efficiency benefit with it.

In the past week, the project has flown up from the slab level and is ready for the first floor joists and next level to be installed.

This is a great precedent of some of the amazing modern methods of construction out there. If you’re interested to find out more, get in touch!

Happy International Women’s Month!

We’re celebrating women who shape our workplace and continue to redefine what leadership looks like along the way. The theme for IWD this year is , which highlights the power of collective support from and for women.

We sat down with our Managing Director, Juliet, who openly reflects on her journey coming back to work after maternity leave. From sharing her shifting perspectives and personal growth, she shares how a supportive workplace has shaped her understanding of what it means to give to gain.

In 2025, we teamed up with , and with a goal to clean, assess and repair the stonework on the incredible Grade II* Listed, Oxford Town Hall.

The stonework was initially cleaned to carefully revive its natural character. Following this, a meticulous assessment of each stone, addressing cracks and carrying out minor repairs and replacements allowed us to see full impact of its restoration. Now that the scaffolding is coming down, and works are being revealed, Oxford Town Hall - and Oxford - feel just a little brighter.

Yesterday, we celebrated Christmas at Jessop and Cook 🎄

Rob, our very own Father Christmas, had one rule this year: arrive with ‘Christmas Spirit and your favourite attire’

Nibbles curated by Aline, Steph, and Amanda; festive drinks from Danni and Barnaby; games by Tahima and Martin, whilst Harry remained on hand to ensure no crumbs were left behind, Juliet brought the festive cheer, and Dan fulfilled his usual role of Jessop and Cook Grinch for our Christmas photo. Kim and Magda were greatly missed!

We enjoyed 3-course meal at Pierre Victoire before heading to The Duke of Cambridge to round off the evening 🎄

It was great to celebrate the completion of construction and soft opening of East Oxford Community Centre with the people who matter the most, the original tenants and those who will be using the centre! It has been fulfilling to work alongside ODS on this project for the past several years to deliver the extensive refurbishment and retrofit of the existing community centre and the construction of the brand new sustainable, timber framed new extension.

Harry as project architect has guided the project from a RIBA stage 3 planning scheme when we were first involved to its completion. Working alongside several consultants including SWJ Consulting Ltd , Applied Landscape Design and Taylor Consulting we developed designs to serve local residents and user groups, and Oxford City Council provision of much improved community facilities.

It was great to meet up with the many groups, council team and councillors, Douglas Kerrigan (OCC Project manager), and of course all from the ODS team.
