As a dyslexic child it sustained her and eventually lead her to York Technical College where she studied General Art and Design. she had no idea making things could be so much fun. she went on to study many different mediums, ever
ything from wood to plastic, but it wasn’t until she started working with metal that she really fell in love.
Fiona Wilbraham Inspiration comes from continuous curiosity about art, design, furniture, 3D and design, and from many pioneer British & global designers. She had found her groove, to be able to take a blank canvas; sheet metal and create something new and unique was all she needed. The university even built her my own sound proofed room. she set up her first company ‘Maiden Iron’ with Penny Spedding, under the arches in Tower Bridge and quickly gained her first commissioned piece. Since then she have created club fenders, dining room tables, consoles, mosaic tables, chairs, trophies, sculptures, candelabras, swings, balconies, mirrors, beds, an Alice in Wonderland croquet set and even a vintage pillar box. The technical integrity of the design is achieved through Fiona Wilbraham years of experience of joinery and creating furniture by hand, understanding the technology and science of the metal, materials and pushing to the limit the stress of woods, ply and plastics. Hand finishing and the closest attention to detail means that each piece is unique, looks amazing and performs perfectly. Fiona Wilbraham work has been featured in British & Global editions of leading design and interiors magazines, and has been designing bespoke range of furniture for over 20 years.
