Easter highlights in these strange times. After the wettest gloomiest winter in the garden we are now enjoying a much needed period of dry weather and it’s all hands on the deck to tidy up and get out those pesky weeds and add soil improver to the beds.
Supplies are a problem in some areas but many nurseries are now delivering though often a limited range.
A good year to try your hand at growing veg -I have carrots, beetroot, spinach, radishes, lettuce and mange tout all sprouting happily. If you have space cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower can all be grown in the garden easily but watch out for the cabbage white butterflies that can cause havoc when the caterpillars start munching your produce. I also have lots of tomato plants growing under cover and beans and courgettes will be added next month. Happy gardening enjoy.

Summer is having its final fling and hooray today we have rain. It has been an amazing summer for fruit so try and harvest what’s left before it falls to the ground. Good time to tidy and clean greenhouses and sheds. Keep an eye on the temperatures and be ready to move tender plants under shelter for the winter.

A few garden highlights. Hoping these unseasonal winds will not cause any serious damage. Lots of plant supports added where needed but inevitably the pots are not liking these conditions. Leave them lying down where they fall over until conditions are calmer. Unsightly I know but less damage than multiple toppling over.
