On Friday we celebrated 21 years of CLD and the start of our being a venue for North & West Oxfordshire Artweeks - the second week in the Oxfordshire Artweeks calendar.

Our studio has been transformed in to an art gallery and we are open again from this coming Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th May, 11am-6pm. Come along and say hello!

Huge thanks goes to By Lucy for providing us with the most plentiful and delicious canapés, for keeping our glasses topped up, for providing those glasses, for their gorgeous flower arrangements, and of course Kelly and Rachel for agreeing to be involved in this venture, and providing the beautiful artwork.

A listed cottage farmhouse with a very unusual plan. To make the most of the views from the garden, we created an extension to complement the existing cottage layout.

The result is a light filled kitchen dining and family room with generous sliding doors which open up to the garden and view beyond.

The simplicity of plywood demonstrated here for a coat hanging nook and dressing room joinery. The coat hooks have been positioned to mirror the roofline of the house - a tired bungalow which was stripped back and adapted in to a low energy family home.

A light filled extension to a listed manor house where we used Glulam as a sustainable, lightweight structural solution.

This contemporary addition creates a cohesive kitchen, dining and living space that connects seamlessly with the main house, terrace and gardens.

The structural timber provides a natural aesthetic finish that works together with the interiors.

These images are 3-d visualisations created to explore interior design finishes for a barn conversion.

Where possible, we’ll be reusing existing timber boards for the interior cladding and flooring.

The exterior of the building will be wrapped in insulation so the interior character can be retained. That will then be over-clad in timber boards saved from the existing exterior.

We are thrilled to announce that we’ve received planning permission for our rural events venue on a working farm in North Oxfordshire.

Located in a valley complete with its own small lake, the site currently hosts events in held in tipi’s through the summer months. The owners came to us with a vision to transform it into a sustainable, year-round venue that would balance sensitively designed permanent buildings with meaningful enhancements to the surrounding landscape and its biodiversity.

The events venue forms part of a broader diversification strategy for this family-run farm. By extending the season year-round, the business can integrate far more closely with the farm itself creating a genuine farm-to-table story where livestock, produce and flowers are grown and prepared on-site.

The project represents a genuine opportunity to create a rural, sustainable and low-energy exemplar. It aims to root the venue in to its working farm setting. Creating buildings that draw on the rural character of the area and sit lightly on the land, and weaving biodiversity enhancement throughout the scheme.
