GOOD EVENING FRIENDS of the ‘store’ formerly known as The Hardware Store, Padiham ❤️

Hope you’re all keeping well and warm😘
It’s been such a long time since I posted anything on our Page (over 2 months to be exact) and as it had never been my intention to stop, (I had been planning to let you all know how our retirement was going, and basically keep in touch on an ad hoc basis )… I felt I needed to let you know how things have unfolded for us over the last 2 months.

As you will probably be aware we lost our Labrador meeter/greeter Ken, the day before we closed, which as you can imagine was really difficult to handle at the same time as closing and then emptying the shop. We had an exhausting 2 week period but managed to get done what was needed with the help of amazing friends ❤️

I became ill with cellulitis, but then had a whoppa of an allergic reaction to the antibiotics given for it

A week or so later when I was finally on the mend, my wonderful Mum died in Royal Blackburn Hospital following a short illness. 💔

We hope to visit Padiham sometime soon, to catch up with some wonderful humans we know and love, but for the moment we are just getting on with things quietly. Quietly adjusting to our new way of life. Quietly grateful for those we have loved.

Hopefully we’ll be walking up Pendle soon, but for the moment we’re enjoying our regular walks to Towneley.

Today we lost our beautiful boy; Ken. 🐾

He’s been an ever-present at The Hardware Store, Padiham for 15 years, and brought a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘Meeter & Greeter’ He was an unofficial therapy dog to so many, and new customers would do a double-take as customer after customer walked past and let on to him.

A very sad day for us but tomorrow we plan to be back open, for what was originally intended to be our final day of trading.

We can now confirm our popular WILL CONTINUE in the centre of . We are delighted that A1 carshop have agreed to take over this important service and over the next few weeks we will be working with them to ensure a smooth relocation and handover.

These energy saving light bulbs have always been a topic for discussion over the years 😉…. even if a really good description of what it looks like is provided, which can be amusing, it still needs to be removed from its fitting to establish if it’s a 2 pin or 4 pin!
Frustrating if you’ve got one in the bathroom and you can’t see to bath the kids tonight, and haven’t checked. (We’ve regularly handed out one of each over the years, just in case)

So a few weeks ago I found some
WALL ART upstairs … which was very popular and sold straight away. We then found some more, which I put in the window and advertised each one as ‘one only’ or ‘last one’ they were also snapped up, then I found more which went quickly too 😳
When poking around in our storage unit this afternoon can you believe I found more !
