Did you see the launch of our new feast at the farm in a few weeks time? This one’s a special one!

To celebrate the launch of Tom Gilbey’s new book Thirsty, we’re hosting a feast here at Padstow Kitchen Garden — all about seasonal food and great wine.

Opening with a welcome drink from , Tom’s also choosing the wines with our friends at , and will be here with copies of Thirsty, and a chance to get these personalised and signed - perfect for Christmas!

It’s on Sunday 2nd November at 1pm, £75 per person including wine.

We've added a special Shepherd's Hut rate at the farm for any night over the feast weekend - a perfect chance to get cosy in luxury, overlooking the estuary - but hurry, we only have one remaining hut available to book!

It's promising to be a really special autumn afternoon — fire, food, wine and a few good stories.

Who's bank holiday bbq ready? 🔥

Pork chops with tomato & sherry vinegar salsa
simple, punchy, and made to show off top quality pork. I originally wrote this for my workshop and since then it’s had rave reviews from BBQs to dinner parties.

Sear over charcoal at 180–200°C. Aim for 63°C inside, then rest. Serve with a zingy salsa of tomatoes, red onion, garlic, sherry vinegar, olive oil & basil.

Sun’s out, BBQ’s out! 🔥
I wrote this recipe for the , but it works brilliantly on any BBQ – just aim to get yours up to around 200°C.

Ingredients:
• 1kg tiger prawns
• 4 tbsp olive oil
• 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
• 1–2 red chillies, finely chopped
• 1 tsp dried, crushed chilli
• 1 tsp smoked paprika
• 1 tsp sea salt
• ½ tsp black pepper
• Zest of 1 lemon
• Juice of 1 lemon
• 1 tbsp sherry vinegar

In a bowl, mix the olive oil, garlic, dried chilli, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper and lemon zest. Toss the prawns in the marinade and let them sit for 10–15 minutes while your Egg comes up to temperature.

When it’s ready, carefully place the prawns into a hot pan in a single layer. Close the Big Green Egg lid and cook for 3–4 minutes, then flip the prawns and cook for another 3–4 minutes until the shells are lightly charred and the meat is opaque.

Add the wine and let it bubble, then drizzle the prawns with lemon juice and toss to coat. Finish with fresh parsley and a little extra chopped chilli. Let them sit for a minute to soak up all those bold, smoky flavours.

Serve piping hot, straight from the pan, with lemon wedges and plenty of crusty bread to mop up all the juices.

Happy Friday! 😃

This field is called Point Field and is probably my favourite on the farm. Steeped in history, it even has a hidden slipway carved out of the slate, once used by Padstow farmers with horse and cart to transport their wheat across Little Petherick Creek to the sea mills.
