Protecting Cornwall’s historic beauty ⬇️

Check out this before and after of today’s reduction (a Monterey Cyprus 🌳)

This is an iconic tree in Wadebridge, benefitting the community, wildlife and beauty in the area.

Over the years, the tree’s suffered breakages, leaving large gaps in the canopy.

Today’s work helped to bring back some stability to this old and important feature.

Jobs like this are why we do this.

GOOL PERAN LOWEN, ONEN HAG OLL!
Happy St Piran’s Day one and all!

This is the Darley Oak, believed to be the oldest tree in Kernow. Estimated to be well over 1,000 years old, it has stood here quietly watching the world change around it.

Long before tractors, chainsaws and even pasties, this oak was already growing strong. A living piece of Cornwall’s history, still rooted in the same soil after a millennium.

Trees like this remind us just how small a moment we occupy in the life of the landscape.

I’ve been on the other side of the world attending a wedding and taking a short break, making the most of the incredible landscapes that Victoria and Tasmania have to offer.

I’ll be back on Monday and will respond to all your enquiries then!

In the meantime, please enjoy these photos of the magnificent mountain ash (Eucalyptus regnans) They are the world’s tallest flowering tree species, growing to around 100 metres.

Natural places like these that inspire our approach: let trees be trees, and intervene only when they are causing harm to us or to themselves.

Massive day for many champions across Kernow today. Highways, Western Power and plenty other services have been non-stop and will continue their work over the coming weeks. A huge credit to the services in Cornwall following this storm.

Many people are still without power, and moments like these really highlight the strength and importance of community.

As we head into the weekend, we’re carrying out general garden maintenance for a new client, before recharging ahead of another full on week to come.

Thank you to everyone who’s liked, shared, and supported our posts over the last few days, it’s been a rollercoaster and one hell of a ride.

Excited to have been invited on sky news this morning, albeit, whilst we were experiencing a power cut like many others here in Cornwall.

There have been a significant number of trees down blocking highways and cutting power from last night winds that reached over 100mph.

We have never experienced winds as strong here in Cornwall before and advice for everyone is stay put, whilst ourselves and many other brilliant service teams restore things back to normality.

Just a few things to watch out for:

- Fallen trees still pose a threat they could be hiding power lines and electric could be transferred through the trees. Keep distance and contact national grid on 0800 096 3080 to report these.
- With the high winds, branches will have snapped and could still be hanging in the trees, over roads, driveways and properties. Be vigilant, look up and take care.
- Look for signs of upheaval. Root plates can lift leaving the trees precarious. Get in touch with us or your local arborist to come out and assess.

Please stay inside where safe, there’s a lot of excitement around storms but keeping roads clearer will help us clear the debris.
