Designing our guest bathroom reallyyy pushed me creatively—and it’s totally paid off. 🖤 I knew what I didn’t want, but it took me about a year and a half to come up with what I DID want: pulling inspiration from magazines, books, Pinterest, etc., photoshopping approximately 284 mood boards to try different combos, ordering countless wallpaper and tile samples — all so I could actually feel confident enough in my design plan to begin the project.

Along the way, we ended up having to make some compromises (more on that to come), but we always stayed true to my design plan of buffalo check tiles, pattern mixing, charming antique details and making the shower glass disappear as much as possible. I wanted it to all come together and feel like the quintessential modern folkloric cabin aesthetic… and I think we did just that.

*takes deep breath* the guest bathroom renovation is finally finished after 466 days, 20 hours and 17 minutes of stress, some minor injuries, two birthdays, THE FUNNEL, floor crying, moldy cat food, Tyvek suits, full face respirators, falling through the floor, a literal water park in the crawlspace, over 45 mouse bodies, redoing the trim 3 times, spending our entire honeymoon fund, countless hours of therapy and so much more that I’ve probably blocked from my memory.

And ya know... I’m happy with it. The design vision is 99.99999% of what I had in mind and, as dramatic and all-consuming as it was, I love this space so damn much.

We’re officially in the home stretch of actually completing the Bath Cave™️—which means it’s finally time to install all of our gorgeous fixtures from Overstock! 💃From the chic console sink with polished chrome spindle legs to the most perfect scalloped mirror, quirky chrome faucet and super-soft textured towels, each finishing touch elevates the aesthetic without breaking the bank.
