🌿 Thinking about growing fresh herbs indoors? It’s easier than you think and perfect for adding fresh flavour to your meals all year round!

✨ Best herbs to grow inside:
🌱 Basil
🌱 Mint
🌱 Parsley
🌱 Chives
🌱 Coriander
🌱 Thyme
🌱 Oregano
🌱 Rosemary

☀️ What herbs need:
• 6-8 hours of sunlight daily
• Small pots with drainage
• Light potting soil
• Regular watering (but don’t overwater!)
• A warm spot near a sunny window

💡 No sunny window?
Use a small LED grow light and your herbs will still thrive indoors.

✂️ Pro Tip:
Harvest herbs often to encourage fuller, bushier growth. Never cut more than 1/3 of the plant at once.

🚫 Common mistakes:
• Too much water
• Not enough sunlight

When you finally cut your long grass, take extra care to avoid shocking the plants and your lawn's ecosystem:
1. Reduce Height Gradually: Don't take the grass down to its normal short length all at once; lower the blade in increments over a few weeks.
2. Collect the Cuttings: It is crucial to rake and remove the clippings. Leaving thick clumps will smother the wildflowers beneath. Removing them also reduces soil fertility over time, which naturally favors wildflowers over coarse, aggressive grasses.
3. Leave a Permanent Haven: Consider turning a section of your garden into a permanent wildflower patch so you don't have to start from scratch next spring.

Did you know...
Strawberries grow very well in pots, window boxes, hanging baskets, growing bags and strawberry planters as well as in the ground, which means they can be grown in small gardens, on balconies and even on a windowsill.

You can buy strawberries as pot-grown plants at the garden centre in summer, or as mail-order runners in spring or autumn.

May is the month to plant them out for a delicious summer treat. And they are more tasty and less expensive than buying them in the supermarket!

After my post last week about dirty windows, thank you Brenda for your suggestion.
I have done a bit of research and here are the top tips for easy indoor window cleaning:
1. Mix up something gentle: one part vinegar to three parts water.
2. Grab the right cloths: Something soft for washing (anything rough or coarse may cause scratches) and microfibre for drying.
3. Tackle the frames first: Clean the frames before moving onto the glass to avoid smearing dirt around.
4. Glass next, top to bottom: Work methodically to catch any drips.
5. Rinse and then dry promptly to avoid water marks.
6. Finish with a buff: For extra shine, a final going over with a newspaper or a dry microfibre cloth makes all the difference between ‘clean’ and ‘sparkling’.
