Continuing the theme of psychoactive plants, here's nicotiana, containing ni****ne. This isn't the specific plant used to make to***co, but there are many of them used as bedding throughout the summer. It's the plants defence against herbivores.

Please don't plant these out if you have a dog that loves chewing or a little puppy as they are poisonous. There are many plants that can be harmful to dogs and puppies. It's best to keep an eye on them in the garden or leave them somewhere safe. They won't come to any harm then.

Hemlock water droplet that I covered a couple of weeks back, highly toxic if eaten!

I've just found out this is where term sardonic grin comes from. Causing severe muscle spasms in the face, it leaves the consumer with crazy grin on their face upon death. As I said before, nasty way to go, make sure you know this one!

Remember to regularly cut your dead heads off repeat flowering roses to promote new flowers.

If I have a climber that only flowers the once, I tend to leave it for lovely autumn hips.

Newly planted lavender hedge, just gone in today. Please, when you're planting hedges, be sure to leave a good distance between plants, or soon they'll be competing too heavily. I have seen a few instant hedges going in over the years, which involves using large plants and putting them directly next to each other, not a good move! This may look better straight away, but it won't in the long run. The plants won't establish well, and you'll end up with a worse product.

Anybody advising you that this is a good idea will care more about the money they stand to make on the job than the desired outcome. Mark up on large plants is much larger, and they can double their profits by ordering twice the amount needed. Lots more money and no extra work! It's a win-win for them, but not for your hedge, unfortunately.

I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that lavenders are a great one if you need to calm down!
