Millennium Building - This week we joined to lead a tour for 3rd year students from .built.environment and

It was great to talk about the history of the building, some of the design challenges we have overcome and talk about the possibilities for the future.

The students have been tasked to conceive a variety of creative and technically robust designs for the future of the building as part of their degrees.

We can’t wait to see what proposals come forward for this iconic building in Plymouth.

New Year - New Website!

As we start 2024, we’ve updated our website to better reflect the work we do, our expertise and experience -

- We specialise in breathing new life into existing buildings and spaces through well conceived contemporary interventions and adaptations that are culturally and environmentally sustainable. Creative thinking, attention to detail and innovative design ideas generate the very best spaces for our clients.

Our new year starts with new projects, continuing others, and completing others.

Millennium - We are continuing to work with Eat Work Art and Nudge Community Builders on proposals for the re-development of the Millennium Building on Union Street, Plymouth.

Duncombe House - Our internal renovations to a Grade II listed building in Kingsbridge are moving towards completion - photos coming soon!

Haye Farm - We are developing proposals with a new residential client to renovate and extend a linhay within the context of a Grade II listed farm complex.

FEATURED PROJECT:

Chapel House - Completed Summer 2020 - Re-invention of a historic Methodist Chapel in Mid Devon, creating a unique family home.

The original congregational space has been retained as part of the proposed design which now forms the main family living spaces. The gallery is retained above the original entrance to the south and a snug introduced below.

The bedroom and bathrooms are accommodated in the adjoining Sunday School building. With a new connection through at ground floor and gallery level.

Barn Conversion - North Cornwall.

Low floor to ceiling heights characterise this agricultural barn. Our clients wanted us to tweak the heights to provide more head height internally. We have made the following interventions, aiming to maintain the existing roofline:

- raised the first floor (which was in a bad state of repair),

- added dormers over the existing first floor openings to accommodate increased head height and natural light,

- amended truss design to increase head height within the roof,

- exposed floor joists to pinch an extra 150mm of space to the ground floor between the joists.
