Another lovely project to tackle. Creating a blank canvas ready to decide what to do next, looking forward to working on the next stage of this transformation!

I do love a challenge, this lovely garden was great fun to tackle! Now all we need is some rain for the grass 🙂

In the summer it is a joy to pick fresh flowers from the garden. It can be surprisingly straightforward to create a bed or border which will supply enough flowers to fill vases from spring to autumn. Even if you have a small city garden like us!

The key to a successful cutting garden, is choosing mainly ‘cut and come again’ flowers. With these blooms, the more you pick, the more flowers they will produce.

Cutting garden flowers come in so many shapes and sizes, from plate sized dahlias in pretty pinks, purple and orange, to frilly delphiniums, lupins and gladioli. Button-shaped astrantia, and cheerful cosmos.

I have been longing to visit Hill House Nursery for some time and couldn't resist when I saw in the spring and summer they have a cutting garden. Simply pick which size vase you wish to fill, collect your snips and away you go into the most beautiful garden brimming with flowers to choose from.

Whether you’re an avid gardener or just love pottering around a beautiful garden Hill House Nursery is definitely a go-to destination. Not to mention the enormous slices of cake and cream teas. Be still my beating heart. If only I could visit every week!
