Hi everyone after a bit of drama we’re all back home in Plymouth. A number of factors made the decision easy and the right one.
We had a wonderful time in the Sierra and a chill out in Yosemite National park.
We toured the park and saw most of makes it a special place.
The kids have got some other media and I’ll collate that and post it too
Thank you so much for encouraging me in this quest. It has been amazing!
The heat and general toughness was a bit surprise. Having to get up at 5, pack and go in 15 mins to avoid the worst of the heat meant no breakfast or coffee for weeks. (Not a good start to the day) snacks during the day and then noodles for an evening meal. Most days I drank in excess of 12 liters of water. Water was always on my mind, when any next re-supply? Can i get away with carrying less? Should I err on the side of caution? (More weight) taking my pack weight to over 40lb. My base weight was 24lb (no food or water) which was quite heavy.
The lighter equipment is very expensive.
So I’ve lost about 20lb in weight. Most of which is visceral fat. My knees held up despite the arthritis. Likewise my feet. I’ve got to give a big shout-out to Injinju socks. These merino wool toe-socks are amazing.
So finally the kit is washed, dried and packed away, but I haven’t started unpacking my head.
So thanks again for tour support and encouragement. Checking out now. B
