🔥From a unused fire chamber to beautiful feature fireplace all ready to go 💪

This project involved fitting a stunning Purevision Countryman stove into an original fireplace opening that was already in place and ready to be brought back to life.

To ensure the installation met current regulations, we installed a new slate hearth and carried out all the necessary testing and chimney sweeping. A new 904-grade stainless steel flexible liner was fitted into the existing chimney, and where the original chimney stack had previously been removed, we opened up the roof space and installed a twin-wall insulated flue system to provide a safe and efficient solution.

The result is a beautiful, traditional-looking stove that combines classic country styling with modern technology, offering:

🔥 Here we go again 🔥👌

This week we've completed the installation of another F2 Landscape Vue Stove, a stove that holds a special place for me. In fact, it was the very first stove I ever fitted after qualifying as a HETAS engineer, and it was also the stove I used for my HETAS inspection.

Years later, it's still one of my go-to recommendations when it fits the customer's budget and style. It's a fantastic stove, looks incredible, and never disappoints.

This project started with a blocked-up fireplace and, to be honest, finding the original opening was a challenge! 😅 After a bit of detective work, some careful demolition, and breaking through the wall, we finally uncovered the original fireplace chamber and it was absolutely worth the effort.

The finished installation includes:

This install has been a bit of a journey 😅

My customer had wanted a stove for quite some time since I fitted a family members but wasn’t sure whether it would even be possible in the room they had in mind.

After looking over the layout, it was clear it could still be achieved — it just needed a twin-wall flue system to make it work properly.

When installation time finally came around, the Welsh weather had other ideas… weeks of rain delayed things ☔ Then, out of nowhere, the heatwave arrived and yesterday definitely wasn’t the easiest day to be fitting a stove 🥵 Everything I touched was boiling hot and that was before the stove was even lit 😅
But it was all worth it in the end.

A great choice with the Landscape Vue Multi-Fuel Stove, paired with a black twin-wall flue system (because everyone knows I’m not fitting stainless steel 🤣). Funny enough, when taking the photos of this flue system, you can actually spot another one I fitted just across the road 👌

Finished off nicely with a slate hearth and heat shield behind the stove, and I’m really pleased with how this one turned out 🔥

What started as an old, unusable gas fire is now a stunning focal point ready to take centre stage — just in time for those long summer evenings (and even better for the colder months ahead 😉).

Sometimes it’s amazing what’s hidden behind a fireplace 👀🔥

Originally, the plan was to board the fire chamber and tile it. But once we opened it up and found the original stonework, the customer decided to keep it and it was definitely the right choice.

After a good clean-up and a new slate hearth, it’s kept that traditional look while giving it a fresh finish.

Installed here is a Purevision PV5W Wide 5kW multi-fuel stove 🔥

Great heat output for most rooms, with a wider design for a better view of the fire and bigger logs. DEFRA approved and built for clean, efficient burning.

All the main work is now complete, and an oak fire surround has been ordered just waiting for that to arrive so it can be fitted and finish it off perfectly.

Please share this with your friends and family if they are thinking of having a stove fitted don't just go with the cheapest price it's 100% safety and quality of work not just the price.

Today I had to remove a log burner from a property, never a job I enjoy, but when an installation is unsafe, there’s no alternative.

The homeowners had recently moved in and were really looking forward to using the stove they saw during the viewing. Unfortunately, it had been fitted incorrectly, with a poorly installed twin-wall flue that was actually letting water into the property. What should have been a source of warmth quickly became a source of stress and costly problems.

I completely understand that when you’re getting quotes, it’s tempting to go with the cheapest option but there’s often a reason for price differences. Over the years, I’ve quoted for many jobs and not won them all that’s part of the trade. However, I’ve later seen some of those installations, and in too many cases corners have been cut. The issue is, customers often don’t realise anything is wrong until problems start appearing.

A stove isn’t just about getting it in place and working it’s about safety, correct installation, and long-term reliability. Proper certification, experience, and aftercare all matter.

If you’re thinking about having a stove fitted, please do your research. Ask questions. Make sure your installer is properly qualified and takes pride in doing the job right not just cheaply.

There are plenty of good, trustworthy installers out there just make sure you choose wisely.
