The grove allotments We are a community based allotment, from new plotters to experienced plotters

As of 14th August, I have stepped down from my role and will no longer be attending the Grove Road allotment site. This decision follows serious concerns regarding safety and how the site has been managed.

To address these concerns, I have sent detailed emails to the Eastern Valley Allotment Association, the local Member of Parliament, and relevant authorities, and have submitted Freedom of Information requests where needed. All correspondence has been documented to ensure a clear record.

I have also removed all personal tools and property from the site. I will no longer be involved in day-to-day operations or decisions.

I hope the site continues to be managed safely and responsibly for all members and the surrounding community.

**“For the record — today (12/08/2025), Joffre Way, our Secretary, threatened me, the Chairman, with violence. That’s gross misconduct under our rules and a criminal offence under the Public Order Act.

The incident has been formally recorded and reported to the relevant authorities.

Effective immediately, Joffre Way is suspended from all association duties and is not to act or speak on behalf of this group.

We’re here to grow plants, not egos or grudges — and anyone who thinks violence or threats have a place on this site is in the wrong place.”**

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all enjoying the warm weather on the plots – it’s a great time to be sowing and growing. Here are a few timely tips and reminders for this stage of the season:

What to Sow Now:
🟢 Quick growers: Beetroot, spring onions, radish, dwarf French beans
🟢 Salad crops: Lettuce, rocket, pak choi – sow little and often for a steady supply
🟢 Winter crops: Start off purple sprouting broccoli, kale, swede and winter cabbage

What to Do Now:
🌿 Keep on top of weeding – they thrive in this weather too!
💦 Water early morning or late evening – especially for courgettes, cucumbers, and tomatoes
🪴 Pinch out tomato side shoots & support tall crops like peas and beans
🐌 Keep an eye out for slugs and pests – they’re on the move!

Friendly Reminder:
Please be mindful of keeping paths tidy and plot edges trimmed. A tidy site is a happy site – and it helps us all stay safe and proud of our allotments.

Happy growing! 🌞
