💔🐾 HE COULDN’T TELL ME HE WAS IN DANGER… BUT I COULD SEE IT IN HIS EYES 🐾💔
While on foot patrol around the open spaces at Aylestone Meadows, I came across a dog wandering around alone in the heat.
My heart sank. 💔
The poor dog was panting heavily and desperately needed water. In that moment, all I could think was: What if nobody finds him? What if he keeps wandering? What if something happens to him? 😔🐶☀️
I couldn’t simply walk away.
I stayed with the dog and walked around the area trying to locate the owner. Thankfully, I was eventually able to find them.
I had some very strong words of advice, but more importantly, I took the opportunity to explain the dangers of heat and the responsibility we have towards the animals in our care.
I asked the owner to take the dog straight home, which thankfully they did. 🏠🐾
I’m genuinely so relieved that I found this dog. I regularly see missing dog posters, and I dread to think what could have happened if this dog had continued wandering around in the heat.
🐾 Our pets depend on us to protect them. They can’t tell us when they’re too hot. They can’t ask us for water. They can’t tell us when they’re struggling. We have to recognise the signs and act.
☀️💧 Please think carefully before taking your dog out in this heat.
If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them too.
A walk can wait.
A little inconvenience can wait.
Your dog’s safety cannot.
❤️ Welfare isn’t just for people. Every animal deserves to be protected, cared for and kept safe.
Please share this. You never know whose dog you might help keep safe today. 🐶❤️
