As we begin our Christmas shopping, it's hard not to get carried away in the gift aisle. The colourful gifts, the smell of cinnamon, the upbeat Christmas music; and before I know it, I think I'm Mrs Claus with my basket full of items!

Here are some questions we can ask ourselves before we buy:
1. Will it suit their personality or interests?
2. Is the gift practical, motivational or educational?
3. Is it something that we think will get a lot of use?
4. Is it a gift that we would like to receive?

Here's a reminder to focus on what truly matters. I know quite a few families who will have one more empty chair at their dinner table this Christmas.
Give the gift of your time to the people you love this year. Spend even 10 minutes in the business of the season to make each person gathered round the Christmas tree feel loved, supported and valued. Be present. Spread kindness; wave at your neighbours, smile at the stranger on the street, because that can often be enough to make someone's day. 🎁💛
