The site comes first, always.

Before a line is drawn, before a floor plan is considered, and before the design begins to take shape, the land must be understood.
Its topography, views, orientation and relationship with the surrounding landscape all influence what is possible.

Then comes the client’s vision.
Then the conversations.
Then the design.

At Black Hill House in County Armagh, the site set the direction.
Nestled within a natural basin with sweeping south-facing views across the valley, the landscape dictated the home's position, orientation and form.

The client, a designer, arrived with a strong appreciation for aesthetics and detail.

Our challenge was to balance that vision with the realities and opportunities presented by the site itself. Rather than imposing a house onto the landscape, we allowed the landscape to guide the design.

The best homes don't fight their surroundings.
They compliment them.

Home can mean many different things to many different people.
It's not about gable ends, feature walls and sash windows.

It's more about having a blank canvas that you can make your own.
Its about your furniture, your light fittings, your choices.

Marlacoo House, however, is a blank canvas like few others.

Listening to our clients vision for their home.
Understanding it.
Reflecting their idea of their home back to them.

Marlacoo House.
A good start is half the work.

Homes should never impose themselves on their environment.

The natural stone surround at Glassdrummond House makes it almost part of the landscape.

Complemented by the slate roof it creates a classic rural look.
It sets the tone for the area.
The family lives in the space and respects it.
Built to replace an existing dwelling it settles into its surroundings almost naturally.
We listened to and understood our client's vision.

Most people think bigger is better. Is it?

Our most popular homes aren’t shouting for attention.

It is, in fact, a modest bungalow that can create a beautiful living space.

The house invites light to flood the space and pulls the outside in.
The interior opens to a vaulted ceiling and provides a dramatic, airy living space.

As architects, we’re often asked what makes a “beautiful” home.
What matters is the intention to create something more than functional: how light enters a room, how spaces connect, and how materials tell a story.

A truly beautiful home feels personal, attainable, and comfortable.
It doesn’t try to impress.

It simply fits.

This new home, designed on a rural site, has a subtle nod to the Cape Cod classic style of Massachusetts, USA. It’s not a replica, but an interpretation, especially in the windows and dominance of the roofs in the design, creating a relaxed home with an abundance of light.

Every proportion and material was considered with purpose and the need for harmony in the design. The external woodwork adds warmth and texture, while the stone walls reflect the natural surroundings, rooting the home firmly in place.

Our client was able to share their vision of their forever home.

From design to reality.

This geodesic dome rising on Acorn Farm NI in Derry is proof of what happens when you begin with the end in mind.

This isn’t just any dome. It will be the first in the world to house a certified Passive House inside.

Designed not just for structure, but for experience.

The internal temperature of the dome is a climate similar to the Barritz in the south of France.

The dome’s shape, the materials, the way light and air flow… all carefully chosen to complement and sustain that internal environment.

This is design led by clarity.

Architecture that doesn't guess at the finish line but begins with it.
At PMC Architects we understand the vision and we take that vision personally.

Acorn Farm trusted us with their vision.
Why don't you?

As the days grow shorter and the nights stretch longer, there’s a special kind of magic that appears in homes across Ireland.

The glow of Christmas trees, once evergreen beacons brought indoors to symbolise life through the darkness, now light up windows, spreading warmth to all who pass by.

They remind us that even in the heart of winter, light, colour, and comfort endure.

At PMC Architects, we’ve been reflecting on the year that’s been.
The homes we’ve designed, the dreams we’ve helped set in motion.
It’s uplifting to think that by this time next year, many of our clients will be settling into their forever homes, shaped by their unique vision and values.

Designing someone’s home isn’t just about lines on a page. It’s about understanding who they are, how they live, and what “home” truly means to them.

No two are the same, and that’s exactly how it should be.
Thank you to all who’ve trusted us this year.

It’s a privilege to walk this journey with you, to bring a sense of warmth and belonging into the places you’ll call home.

Wishing you a bright and peaceful Christmas.

Walk into White Spots House and you’re guided upward by a beautifully crafted staircase, leading you straight into the heart of the home. The first-floor kitchen and living area, positioned to capture every inch of the surrounding views.

The clean lines of the kitchen, anchored by an island that faces the living space, make it an inclusive place to cook, chat, and gather without anyone turning their back on the moment.

The open space has that modern barn feeling, with exposed trusses drawing your eye through to the double doors and the raised outdoor terrace.

Here, the landscape becomes part of the interior palette.
The soft colours, the shifting light, the sense of calm.

A home shaped for a family who value the land as much as the walls around them.

A personal vision shared with us.
