The completed installation project from the last few weeks in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan. Nic took on this project solo whilst myself and Matt were on our family holiday, and he’s done an amazing job!

A twist on one of our classic patterns, using smaller 2” tiles to create the monochrome design. This has really elevated and widened the space. It really looks fantastic, a showstopping entrance for this grand period home.

The last week was spent in Dinas Powys, installing this elegant hallway floor.

A classic design, elevated with the introduction of patterned encaustic tiles. We worked with the client to create this stylish colour scheme which has worked beautifully.

Take a look through the photos to see how this looked at the beginning of the week.

The completed restoration project from last week in Newport, South Wales. An unusual design, with a highly intricate main pattern, featuring original Maw & Co encaustic tiles, framed with a simple strip border. Carefully lifting the damaged sections, the team were then able to make repairs. The client opted to tile under stairs in a complementary check. Sadly the porch tiles had been long lost, likely removed by previous owners / builders. An in keeping design was created for this space, and a sunken footwell installed.

Overall a very successful restoration.

The completed hallway restoration from last week in Bridport, Dorset.

A classic Victorian design, the original floor tiles were in need of some serious repair and a good clean throughout. With a large section of damage from gas pipe installation, and an unknown concrete square at the front. The client also wished to extend the pattern into the small section at the rear and chose to install an inset doormat in the porch. Using a mix of reclaimed original tiles and new tiles to match where required for the repairs.

Overall a very successful restoration project.

The completed Victorian tiled hallway restoration from the last week in Barry, South Wales.

Famously, many of the period properties in the town are built into the steep hillside. However, unfortunately for this street, this means that many of the original floors have level issues. This property had a substantial drop at the rear, meaning we needed to carefully lift the rear half, in order to raise and repair the level below. Saving as many original tiles as possible, combined with carefully matched new tiles where required, we were then able to retile. The client opted to use this opportunity to continue the border through to the rear, as originally it was laid without.

Overall a very successful project.

The completed Victorian tile hallway restoration project from the last week in Kirkstall, Leeds.

A grand period home overlooking Kirkstall Abbey, the highly intricate tiles were in need of some repair. The rear doorway had been removed, meaning the client wished to extend the pattern into the previously quarry tiled section. The rear half was in quite deteriorated, and in need of repairs before continuing the pattern through.

The elaborate design, required careful colour matching, hand cut tiles, and bespoke encaustics from the team Craven Dunnill Jackfield

The team worked tirelessly to complete this project within the week, Nic has done a fantastic job on the repairs to the main hallway, while Matt completed the rear extension. We’re pleased to say the clients are delighted with the results.

The completed restoration project from the last week in Porthcawl, South Wales.

The client was excited to discover the original hallway tiles beneath their carpet, however excitement soon turned to panic when they discovered the large missing section at the base of the stairs. However, nothing we can’t fix! The team carefully removed the concrete, re levelled, and could then tile to match, hand cutting tiles to size, and sourcing matching encaustic tiles, to ensure a seamless match. They also discovered the original door border at the rear, hidden beneath screed, which was carefully chipped away and the tiles beneath revealed. Some spot repairs elsewhere, and a good clean and re seal. The floor and a now looking fantastic, and the clients are delighted!

The team have been busy over the last week on this lovely installation project in Barrow-in-Furness in the southern Lake District. The client has been lovingly restoring their home, and opted for a classic monochrome floor, with bespoke glazed wall tiles in the porch. A grand period property, this home deserved a wow factor entrance, and it’s certainly been given that!

Take a look through to see the full project and how this space started!
