Watering & Feeding Advice For Your Plants
As we appear to be having a dry spell, we would strongly advise checking newly planted trees and shrubs for water stress. It has been particularly noticeable this year on newly planted laurels (see picture above left - with water stress, it is the older leaves that yellow first).

If the soil feels dry when you poke a finger in or if the plant appears stressed, you should ensure a regular watering regime is maintained.

We recommend watering as follows:

Our big shrubs - 8 litres every 2 to 3 days.
Our trees and instant laurel hedging - 16 litres every 2 to 3 days.
Our very big trees - 24 litres every 2 to 3 days.

Plants usually give you fair warning that they are stressed before they die by turning older leaves yellow and then dropping them, and in severe drought the soft new growth wilts and shrivels.

If you have a drip hose fitted on an outside timer, make sure it is switched on for at least 20 minutes twice a day (sandier soils may require more).

We would also recommend giving all plants a good feed on a regular basis to help growth.
