t’s history dates right back to 1874 when Thomas Croft founded Thomas Croft and Sons, the renowned building and civil engineering company. This company had a long and illustrious existence, building many of Preston’s landmarks including the Town Hall and Municipal Buildings. It also built Blackburn Cathedral and other landmarks throughout the North West. Croft’s current owner, John Croft, is the fifth generation descendant of Thomas Croft. John established Croft as you know it today almost 20 years ago, building on the original company’s hard-earned reputation. Croft's mission is to follow the philosophy of the original company: to offer quality products and excellent service. Today the company is proud of its wide offering of contemporary bespoke orangeries, conservatories, extensions, windows, doors and roofline products available throughout Preston and Lancashire. John is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building and has a degree in Construction Management and Technology so superb craftsmanship and excellence in project management are at the very heart of the Croft business. Customer service is also what we excel at. Most of Croft's teams have been with them since the start and are frequently praised for the work they do. Only the very best tradesmen are employed by Croft and they are immensely proud of the fantastic work they do. In many cases customers ask for all aspects of the build to be overseen by us including all aspects of interior design. Croft create fabulous flooring finishes and truly stunning lighting schemes. They also source and fit a wide range of heating systems including underfloor heating and wood burning stoves. To perfectly complement your conservatory, Croft can landscape the surrounding area outside and create a seamless transition between inside and out. Croft have a long, sound financial history. Unlike other companies who have a limited track record and could even risk bankruptcy, you know you can place an order with Croft and have complete peace of mind that the job will be done on time, within budget and at no financial risk to you. Croft's comprehensive craftsmanship guarantee policy and dedicated maintenance team mean you are in safe hands so you can sit back and enjoy your newly improved, beautifully bespoke home.

One of the things we love most about what we do is helping people see the potential in their homes.
This property had a fairly typical flat frontage, but by rethinking the glazing, proportions and detailing, we were able to completely change the feel of the elevation. More character, more presence and a design that is better suited to the house.
When it comes to windows, it’s rarely just about replacing what’s already there. The right design can transform the entire look of a property.
If you’re planning a project and wondering what could work for your home, we’re always happy to help.

We still receive letters like this.
Not reviews written in a hurry. Proper handwritten notes from customers who’ve trusted Croft with their homes for generations.
Our Google reviews pull directly through to the website too, if you’d like to see why families across Lancashire have continued choosing Croft since 1874. Find them under ‘What Our Customers Say’ on our website (link in bio).

All set up for meetings at Croft HQ today.
And isn’t the orangery looking great? A pretty good spot for talking through ideas, materials and plans over a coffee.

A lovely transformation has taken shape over in Woodplumpton.
A new bow window installation complete, finished with a Tapco slate roof and leaded glazing to sit comfortably with the character of the property.
A great example of how much impact a well-designed window can have on the front of a home.

Back in the old Begonia House this week. Brick, sunshine, water and glass all doing what they’ve always done best.
The original Croft UPVC frames are still creating the perfect environment to grow - warm, bright, sheltered and completely in keeping with the character of the space. No forcing a modern solution where it doesn’t belong. Just meeting the building where it is and helping it flourish.
And yes… everything is on legs at the moment 🌱

One thing we always encourage people to do before making any decisions is come and spend some time with us in the showroom.
Seeing colours, finishes and materials properly in person makes such a difference, especially when you’re trying to picture how something will sit within your own home.
At Croft, nothing is off the shelf or pre-determined. From softer heritage tones through to darker contemporary palettes, we can help you build something that feels right for your property and your style of living.
Physical samples, real life conversations, a good brew and plenty of ideas. You’ll find us in Preston.

A reminder that our Spring Garden Buildings promotion is currently running, with up to 30% off Croft Pods, Orangeries and Conservatories. If you’ve been thinking about creating more space, now is a very good time to start exploring ideas.

More and more, the garden becomes part of how we live.
This project completely opens the rear of the house with slim framed glazing, rooflights overhead and a covered garden room that works just as well on quieter spring days as it does in the height of summer. A space that changes how a home feels day to day 🌿

Great questions coming in this morning from our Design Advice Session.
A couple around growing things with a Croft Pod… Yes, you can absolutely have a living roof. It’s not something we install ourselves, but we’ve had customers go on to add them beautifully. And growing against a pod, also yes. Just be mindful of fixings. It’s completely doable, but needs the right approach. If you’re thinking about it, DM us and we’ll share the type that work well. Planting-wise, avoid anything with thorns. Clematis or honeysuckle are perfect, soft, seasonal, and they sit well against the structure.
And glazing - how much is too much?
In our world, there isn’t really a limit. With modern thermal glass, you can maximise the view and still have a space that feels comfortable all year round.

Happy May Bank Holiday - here’s to a little more time spent in our places this weekend.
Just a reminder that Tuesday is the first Tuesday of the month, so send in your home design questions and queries. We’ll be working from the pod as usual, so if you’re nearby, you’re always welcome to stop by - sometimes it’s easier to talk things through in person.
From window choices to reworking an awkward space, we’ve had some brilliant questions recently, keep them coming.

This is what we mean when we talk about designing for setting. Not something that lands on a landscape, but something that belongs to it, especially somewhere as open and exposed as this moorland plot. If you listen closely, you’ll hear the resident curlew.
With every Croft pod, it’s never just about the structure. It’s about how it sits, how it weathers, and how it becomes part of the view rather than interrupting it.
