Vaila In Frame impression door – Kitchen & Utility
It was a true pleasure to design this space, particularly with the goal of opening up the kitchen and dining areas, as the kitchen was much-used, while the dining room sat largely underutilized. The main objective was to create an elegant, understated classic design with a soft, muted colour palette.
For the cabinetry, we selected the Painted Vaila In-Frame Impression doors, blending Cashmere and Chalk Cliffs tones. Calacatta Gold worktops, splashbacks, and upstands were chosen to elevate the space with a touch of sophistication. The addition of subtle wall panelling, Polished Nickel handles, and a beautifully crafted ceiling extractor box—mirroring the shape of the peninsula below—helped bring everything together.
To soften the room’s angular layout, we added rounded pilasters, while the custom curved coving that runs throughout the entire space provides a graceful finish. The new furniture design also plays a big role in the overall style of this open-plan kitchen-dining space, creating a seamless flow and elegant balance.
The utility room, often an afterthought, was finished in the same high-quality materials as the kitchen, ensuring it wasn’t left behind. As one of the most practical areas of the home—used daily for washing, drying, and giving Louie his weekly bath—a glamourous, water-resistant design was essential. And of course, hiding the awkwardly placed boiler was a key consideration, ensuring it was discreet and in keeping with the overall design. I think this utility space is perfect for Louie and his pampering sessions!
