A decade of growth in Plant & Transport 🚛
Tony Chadwick has been part of Sapphire Utility Solutions for 10 years and has seen first hand just how much the business and our Plant & Transport operation have evolved.
When Tony joined Sapphire, the fleet stood at around 75 vehicles. Today, it has grown to approximately 980, with Tony now leading the function as Head of Plant & Transport and overseeing the new workshop at Leyland.
Scaling at this pace hasn’t been without its challenges he says, but the team has grown and strengthened alongside the fleet. This has been supported by improved reporting, greater visibility across fleet and plant, and a continued focus on doing things the right way.
For Tony, success comes down to two things compliance and availability ✅. Keeping the fleet safe, compliant and out on site is critical to supporting delivery across the business. From regular stand downs and walkaround checks 🔍 to addressing defects quickly 🔧, the Plant & Transport team plays a vital role in safety, efficiency and day to day operations.
Reflecting on the journey so far, Tony is proud of how both the fleet and the team have grown alongside Sapphire. With the business now part of the Lanes Group and continuing to deliver major mobilisations 🚀, it’s the continued growth and the role Plant & Transport plays in supporting it that excites him most.
