Sunday’s our big opening day, friends, and we’d love to see you there if you’re local.

The big incentive is that all tickets monies go directly to the NGS, so your £10 investment in your visit helps all the wonderful charities the NGS supports including and

Other incentives include the current bumper display of garden roses (standing up robustly to the weather 👏), Cornus Kousa in full bloom, poetic quotes to discover and some new garden sculpture to meet (more about that in a later post).

There’s also of course the lure of the kitchen cafe. Whilst we’re not doing lunches to preorder this year, you won’t go hungry. We’ll have homemade sausage and vegan rolls, spicy soup and cheese scones in addition to our usual offerings of many cakes and cream teas. And there’ll be plenty to buy in our pop up shop too - including lots of healthy plants at bargain prices.

If you make it, please pop by the cafe and introduce yourself. I love to put a face to an insta handle 😊

Whatever you’re up to though, wishing you a wonderful first weekend of summer x

Patio perfection this week as we reach peak rose 🌹

Sometimes I’d like to press pause. But each moment is fleeting, so instead we bring our attention to what’s present, and give thanks 🤍

What’s the best possible conclusion to a heatwave morning run? This….! I drop my towel off at the pond as I head out so there’s absolutely no delay when I arrive back in the garden 🏊🏻‍♀️

Absolute bliss, immersed in the ecosystem hanging out with the water mint and admiring the early flowering of Cornus Kousa 🤍🪷🤍

It’s the beginning of one of the busiest week of the year for us. We’ve got a few groups visiting, an open afternoon on Wednesday and then the lovely offering an outdoor soundbath that evening (you can get tickets for both on my website linked in bio). And a photo shoot to look forward to tomorrow 📸. Summer energy for sure 👌🏻

Almost the middle of May, and the year seems to be accelerating. It’s been busy, and when I come up for air and remember to take photos of the garden to share, they seem so quickly out of date and stale!

Here’s a little walk through our allee of slightly fluffy hornbeams, and my dear Sue making magic with slate boards and words - one of my favourite birthday gifts 🎁

You can find the boards dotted around the garden (they’re multiplying!) if you come and visit. And you can do that SOON! Our open day is on 7 June, and I have a quiet open afternoon as well planned for 27 May. If you do come and find some words of wisdom peeping out at you from behind a river birch, I’d love to know how the words landed 🩷

Beltane Blessings everyone 🌸💕🌸

Sharing a pic of two of my favourites (look closely 👀) to capture something of the ebullient joys of May Day.

My K was our Quinton May Queen back in 2016, and on the tenth anniversary of her crowning, she still looks every bit the part smiling on her beloved garden swing.

Now May’s here, our open season gets fully underway and I’m busy filling the freezer with cakes and scones ready for our visitors later in the month. We’re at capacity for group visits this year, but let me know if you might be interested in bringing a group (min 15) next summer, and I’ll be in touch in early autumn with available dates.

There’s still plenty of room on some of our wellbeing offerings over the coming months. Our website linked in my bio have more info on these.

Enjoy this gorgeous day. Full moon too! The first time a full moon has coincided with Beltane since 1988 apparently 🌸

April is a tempestuous affair. Outdoor wear this week has ranged from T-shirts to a fleece lined dry robe, and the words of Ogden Nash’s “Always Marry an April Girl” (sage advice btw 😉) capture something of the mood: “April golden, April cloudy/ Gracious, cruel, tender, rowdy;/ April soft in flowered languor/ April cold with sudden anger”…..

In the garden, its peak fritillary season, the tulips continue to delight (I’ve made my first foray into our tulip cutting beds 💐) and we’ve hung up our Bhutanese prayer flags under the willow tree. We had them blessed by a Buddhist monk, so I’ve got a feeling they’re going to do powerful work in our - which also moonlights as a venue for meditation and Breathwork gatherings and seasonal soundbaths, all now available to book on my websites 🤗🇧🇹🙏🏻🤫

Happy Easter Insta Friends 🐣🌷💐

I hope I’ve not gone too early with my wander through the orchard; but there’s always the possibility of another and the early days of the orchard tulips and the Easter weekend are synonymous to me (and so do I map my year…)

Some words to enjoy today, courtesy of the Dali Lama:

~ Whether one believes in a religion or not, and whether one believes in rebirth or not, there isn’t anyone who doesn’t appreciate kindness and compassion ~

Not anyone ☺️

Good morning 👋🏻

I love a framed view so much that I’m prepared to overlook the sagging grey sofa covers and the rill set to “off”. I hope you can too 🙏🏻

Fleur Adcock’s poem Leaving the Tate concludes that “Art’s whatever you choose to frame”. Now I don’t identify as artistic - anyone who’s seen my attempts at willow weaving and flower drawing in our garden workshops would attest to that! - but I like connecting the dots been words and images, and perhaps Fleur would call that a framing of sorts? 🖼️

Every year, on the first warm March day, I forget the capriciousness of spring and fall head over heels for its enthusiasms. This was one such day last week. We’re back to winter woolies and the fire in Quinton today.

When I’m not in the garden (or on Instagram 😆), I spend a lot of my time watching people breathe in my work as a Breathwork therapist. And I find the breath provides me with so many metaphors for life. As we step over the spring equinox, I like to think that our northern hemisphere begins its long inhale, breathing fully and deeply, drawing in the energy needed for potent growth. Perhaps that idea speaks to you too?

If you’ve made it this far, you might like to know that on Saturday morning we’re offering an opportunity for lots of deep breaths at a cold swim workshop in the garden studio. Come and join Fay for a two hour workshop introducing you to cold water swimming and its many benefits before taking to the water in the garden’s swimming pond (currently 9 degrees). Bookings via the website linked in my bio or message me if you’d like to join x

A perfect early spring Sunday 🌸

It feels this morning that the garden has woken up, rubbed the sleep from its eyes, switched off the alarm and is right now flexing and stretching its limbs into the new season. There’s such an optimistic, actually more than that - joyful, perhaps? - energy out there today. I hope we all get to tune into that before the 6.07pm (!) sunset.

And it’s Mothering Sunday, of course. So special love to all who connect with that in whatever way. And special love to everyone else too x
