So the wee man turned 5 months today so we celebrated with a trip to the trainer. Thank you Tony (Rammy Valley Gundogs) for your time and guidance. Now to do our homework.

We had an hour session with Tony where he demonstrated then we practiced. Loads learnt but still loads to do. If you have a dog and would like some structured guidance please look him up. It’s not just for gundogs. Thank you.

The girls were at dance so I managed to tick another job off the list. Bench produced from some Ash which was felled early last year and then chainsaw milled. Solar kiln dried then sanded, shaped, treated with wood preserver and finally coated with Danish oil to help protect it. A steel leg and Ash block used for support.
A great heartwood pattern brought to life by the danish oil. I love working with Ash.

Always nice to collaborate with Stuart from “STS Tree Contractors”. Here to collect a good sized Ash stem for him to mill and work his magic on. Stuart is based in Leeds with a plethora of equipment to use and hire. Look him up if you need Arb equipment or tree services

A great couple of days working across in Preston with Neil @ Climb and Cut. A huge Sycamore which had to be removed due to substantial rot. Made a touch more difficult due to a live oil tank and a neighbours extension. All down safely with the rot clearly visible in stem and stump. The timber was left in situ for client to reuse.

A tale of a 170 year old oak tree felled for a new road.

It was felled just outside Preston, Lancashire. Moved to, and chainsaw milled in New Longton. Air dried prior to being solar kiln dried in Ramsbottom. Router flattened and resined in Bury. Debarked, shaped and sanded in Bury before going back to Ramsbottom to be sanded again and treated. Legs attached then moved to its final home in South Manchester.

The very first Axeman Boards dining table and bench. Nearly two and a half years from first seeing it to waving goodbye. The tree is finally at its forever home.

Suns out for the first time this week. Lawn and stumps today. Sherpa mini loader and Klou stump grinder attachment making short work of a couple of medium lumps.

A large majestic Willow reduced to the customers requirement with dead and damaged limbs removed. Most limbs rigged out to protect the decking Rabbit run and pond area. Great to work with Matt once again. Chip and logs left for customer.

Please note no rabbits were injured during this undertaking.

Early start in the workshop today, two more chopping boards soon to be out of the door. One to Thailand and the other to Rochdale. Each treated with a different food safe oil to provide the best possible finish.

WOCA oil for the Oak board and OSMO worktop oils for the Elm.

Both pieces of wood are from my own stock and originate from trees which were removed due to condition and proximity to a new road(OAK), and condition(Elm).

The wood is chainsaw milled, dried in a solar powered kiln, then worked on by myself. What started as a hobby seems to be growing legs.

Wood has so many uses. Rather than chip and burn the timber I endeavour to mill, stack, dry and then creat something. Chopping boards through to tables. If there’s something you like please contact me. Even if you’d like a slab for a project you have in mind, get in touch.

Ash Dieback. It’s real and effecting huge quantities of old and young trees alike. This majestic Ash needed to be remove due to it. It’s always a shame to take such a mature tree but it would soon become way too dangerous to climb and ultimately endanger people and property.
