A behind-the-scenes look at making a full frame set for French doors, complete with side sashes and top lights.

The video shows the process from start to finish — marking out, cutting to length, mortising and tenoning, sanding, gluing up, and finishing. This frame wasn’t made the way we usually would, but was built this way to match existing joinery on site, so accuracy was key. From first mark to final assembly.

A recent project for a customer replacing four complete sliding box frames. Each unit was built from Sapele hardwood, including all eight sashes and the full set of glazing, staff, and parting beads.

The frames were made as direct replacements for the existing openings, with curved top sashes and curved box heads precisely matched to the originals. Everything has been fully sanded and prepped, ready for spraying and double glazing before the customer fits them on site.

A durable, accurate replacement set that maintains the traditional look of the property.

A customer brought in a damaged bottom sliding box frame sash - the bottom rail was completely rotten. To ensure a long lasting repair we built a brand new sash from a quality hardwood.

It was then professionally sprayed with two coats of primer, in between coats it was rubbed down and any last gaps were filled. We then removed the glass from the old sash and cleaned it up to reuse the original glass, glazing it with linseed oil putty.

This approach preserved the original glazing while delivering a long lasting replacement ready for fitting.

We recently completed prep work on 20 softwood sash windows, made from BC Pine and collected from a local joiner.

Each sash was filled with two-part filler and sanded smooth before being professionally sprayed with two coats of primer. Between coats, we denibbed and spot-filled with fine filler to ensure a clean, even surface.

They’re now ready for the client to single glaze with putty and hand-paint with their chosen top coat before installation. Solid prep makes for a solid finish.

A recently completed bespoke window, handmade in solid European oak. This 3-part casement features two opening side sashes and a fixed central section.

Built with mortise and tenon joints and bonded using Cascamite glue for lasting strength. Pre-fitted with weather seals and fully prepped for the client to apply their chosen stain or oil.

We also machined custom oak glazing beads, with glazing to be completed by the client after finishing. All crafted with care from start to handover.🔨✔️
