If you’ve ever been in a situation where you’ve bought lots of paint samples and painted them all over the walls and STILL can’t decide which 2 or 3 shades go together, then grab yourself a Colour Scales Card.

Each colour family has a scale of colour tones starting with the light options at the top and the dark options at the bottom.

So basically, all of the colours in each row are the same, they’re just a lighter or darker version of itself so you know they’re going to work really well together.

The very first thing I do before starting any designs for a client is to ask them to send me some inspirational pictures, things they’ve saved on Pinterest or Instagram or from magazines. It gives me a really good starting point and a clearer understanding of what they’d like to achieve.

These are some of the Pins I saved this week. From these pictures you can definitely tell I like warm tones, lots of texture, interesting features on lamps and chairs, animal print, marble and glass decor.

Now I just need to tell my house that 😂

Colour drenching isn’t just a trend, it can completely change the look and feel of a room. It’s the easiest way to make a room feel more cosy and considered.

Imagine if this ceiling had been left white, the room would appear visually lower and the snug factor would disappear. By carrying the colour across the walls, woodwork and ceiling, the whole space feels softer, warmer and far more inviting.

This is a little progress update from my Shiplake project. We’re not quite finished yet, but it’s already giving the cosy, welcoming feel the client wanted.

This room was sooooo AWFUL. It became a storage room for old furniture and anything else that didn’t have a home. Now we’re transforming it into two really cool rooms and moving the bed (which we’ve already recovered in a lush olive velvet) into another room that we’ll be working on later.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to be invited to a designer day at ✨ Such an amazing experience! We toured their beautiful Devizes showroom, enjoyed a delicious breakfast & lunch, explored the warehouse, learnt about various types of stone and where it comes from, and even got to decorate my very own tile.

I thought I’d give you a little update on my restaurant project in Maidstone. We still have a way to go with plant pots, curtains, pictures, mirrors and lots of other pretty stuff to add but so far so good 🙂.
This is my favourite part of any interior design project, especially hospitality design, it’s like putting on the jewellery after you’ve chosen your outfit.
I’m now also working on a hotel lounge area for these clients so watch this space 👀.
