A contemporary rear gable extension defined by a steep gable and full height glazing, bringing light deep into the home and connecting with the garden.

Externally, matching brickwork is paired with slim aluminium frames to clearly express old and new. Inside, a double height vaulted space creates a bright, open living environment.

Countryside Cottage

A single storey extension and internal reconfiguration designed to improve the flow and functionality of this original bungalow. Externally, the existing cedar cladding and roof proportions have been retained and replicated within the extension, complemented by contemporary glazing to strengthen the relationship with the garden.

The project introduces an accessible bedroom and bathroom, alongside a utility and kitchen diner opening directly onto the rear garden. The original layout has been reworked to create larger, more practical living spaces throughout.

Hyde End Dairy Cottage | Interior Detail

A calm, light filled bathroom that perfectly captures the balance of heritage and contemporary design. Set beneath a vaulted ceiling, the freestanding bath is framed by soft arched windows that echo the building’s original character, while new rooflights flood the space with natural light.

Thoughtfully designed, every element has been considered, to transform the once run down cottage into a modern family home.

Hyde End Dairy Cottage

Built in 2020 by a specialist conservation and restoration contractor, this detached building was transformed from a run down cottage to a modern family home.

Every intervention was carefully considered, respecting the original building while introducing contemporary detailing, including the striking black crittall glazed windows and doors. Brick archways were incorporated for new window openings, with matching materials, creating seamless junctions between old and new.

A single storey extension to create the kitchen, family and dining spaces, are brought together in a generous open plan layout, zoned through changes in roof form and glazing rather than physical divisions.

Feature glazed gables and vaulted ceilings define the kitchen and family areas, framing views to the countryside beyond. A lower central ceiling creates a natural focus for the dining space, marked by a roof lantern overhead. Supporting spaces including a boot room, utility and cloakroom, connect seamlessly to the kitchen and provide direct access to the garden.
