Every house has one. Not necessarily the most comfortable. Or the most expensive.

I’m talking about the place people naturally gravitate towards. The chair that’s always occupied. The kitchen stools where conversations happen. The morning coffee spot. The place to perch for end-of-day catch-ups.

Every home should have social anchors, places that bring people together.

It’s a reminder that our homes do more than provide a backdrop to our lives. They shape how we gather, connect and spend time with the people around us.

So I’m curious...What’s the best seat in your house?

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been curious about the spaces we inhabit and the role they play in our lives.

Not just how they look, but how they make us feel. Why we are drawn to certain places. Why some energise us while others allow us to rest. How our homes evolve as we do. You get the idea.

Lately I’ve been wanting more space for those thoughts and conversations, and if you know me, you’ll know I love a good chat. So I’ve started writing on Substack, where I can explore them in a little more depth, with a little more room to wander and, no doubt, the occasional rant along the way.

Think of it as a scrapbook of ideas, observations and conversations about the spaces that shape our lives.

My first piece is now live. The link is in my bio if you’d like to join me and follow along. I’ll be evolving things as I go, learning as I write and hopefully finding my groove along the way.

I really do love hosting — give me an excuse to shop for dinner candles and make flower arrangements and I’m happy!

Last week I hosted our Spring GATHER event and it was such a fab evening. Following the energy of the season, this GATHER was all about renewal, growth and possibility.

We had mocktails, a beautiful two-course dinner, and a really relaxed Q&A with talking all things financial wellbeing and building wealth.

GATHER is a community for women in the creative, design and wellbeing world to connect, share and inspire. The events are intimate and invite-only, but if it sounds like something you’d love, pop me a DM and I’ll add you to the list for future Gather events.

I’ve always been drawn to old wooden furniture. Partly because I love the craftsmanship, but also because it reminds me of my grandparents’ farmhouse - a place I loved spending time in.

It made me think about the objects we choose to keep around us. Often they aren’t the most useful or valuable things we own. They’re reminders of people, places and experiences that matter to us.

Research suggests we feel more at ease in environments that reflect who we are and where we’ve come from. Perhaps that’s why certain objects survive every clear-out and every house move.

A chair inherited from a family member. Artwork collected on trips away. Something that sparks a memory every time you walk past it. They connect us to our story.

And that sense of familiarity is often part of what makes a house feel like home.

What’s one object in your home you’d never part with?

I love this guest bathroom. It’s intentionally very calm and cocooning, a space that feels like a bit of a reset. The one place a guest gets a moment to themselves. Nothing tries too hard here, we kept the palette super soft and muted, everything works quietly together. Whilst it’s a small room, I like to think it shifts the pace, even if you’re only in it for a few minutes.

The only interiors trend I’m interested in this year is self trust.

We’ve been taught to look outward—to follow, to save.

But the spaces that really work come from something else entirely.

They’re built from what you’re drawn to, what you’ve collected, what actually supports your life.

I’ve been writing more about this—about trends, and what’s underneath them, how to use them in a helpful way and I’ve got a longer piece coming on this, which I’ll be sharing over the weekend.

Back with another moment of beauty… giving myself some space and time to soak it all in and feel inspired.

This time the answer was a solo trip to Charleston House — home to Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, and a gathering place for the Bloomsbury Group. A circle of artists, writers and thinkers — including Virginia Woolf and John Maynard Keynes — who came together to imagine society differently, with art and experimentation at the centre of everyday life.

You can still feel that energy and creativity in the house. It’s a really fascinating and inspiring place to visit. There’s just so much creativity, art, story and personality.

It really reinforced for me how important it is for our homes to reflect us.

Calm is a skill.
And it’s one your environment is constantly shaping.

The spaces we live in influence how we move through our day, how much mental energy things require, and how regulated we feel in the background of everyday life.

When a home flows well, holds what it needs to hold, and feels visually settled, calm becomes easier to access.

This is the role of thoughtful design.
Not just to create something beautiful, but to shape how a space is lived in.

Have you ever noticed a space that made you instantly exhale?

“It’s not too overly designed. It feels effortless…”
“You don’t push a style that doesn’t suit the client or home.”

Feedback like this always means so much.
Every project is about working with you to shape a home that feels personal, considered, and entirely your own.
