🚨 DON’T MAKE THIS COSTLY MISTAKE with your vertical cladding! 🚨

Skipping the air gap (ventilation cavity) behind vertical cladding might seem like a shortcut… but it’s a fast track to serious problems. 😩
Without that crucial 25-50mm ventilated gap (often created with battens), moisture gets trapped behind the boards. Rain, condensation, or humidity can’t escape or dry out properly.
The result?
• Mould & rot buildup
• Warping, buckling, or discolouration
• Premature failure of your beautiful new cladding
• Potential damage to the wall/insulation underneath
• Voided warranties & expensive repairs
I’ve seen too many projects go wrong because installers “forgot” the rainscreen principle. Vertical cladding is designed as a rainscreen system — it needs to breathe! Always include:
✅ Vertical counter-battens for airflow
✅ Openings at top & bottom (with insect mesh)
✅ Breather membrane on the wall
Pro tip: Check your manufacturer’s guide — most recommend at least 38mm for best performance.
