When the weather is hot, aim to water your garden in the morning or evening. This allows your plants to fully absorb the water before it gets too hot. Plus, water droplets act like a magnifying glass in sunlight, potentially damaging the plant.
Prioritise your potted plants, as these will dry out much quicker than those in beds. Don’t worry too much about your lawn – grass is very good at retaining moisture and, though it may go a little brown, will almost always bounce back after a bit of rain. If it’s been a while without rain, don’t mow your lawn, or you could stress it further.
