Many years ago I daily used to work for 8 to 9 hours at a desk, mainly sat in front of a computer, and did that for countless years!

Today is one of those days!

Costing out a large estimate, which if I get, will not only see us sorted for a few months of work, but I'll also have the pleasure of bringing in some other local tradespeople to help, ensuring they can have a stable and good few weeks of work too. It's tough out there for trades at the moment so here's hoping that I can help out a few good ones with the same ethos as us.

Recent completed bathroom. Breaking a wall out to bring a bathroom and separate toilet into one room. Lots to contend with, including finding 2 layers of tiles to contend with, the plaster below the tiles being completely blown and the distinct lack on insulation around the windows. New cement board and waterproofing in shower area. Blocking up one door and new boarding and skim throughout. And the attention to detail with having to scribe and polish the tile edges to fit against the other tiles.

Brushed brass finishes are very 'on trend' at the moment.

Customer very happy with finished product, and the effort was worth it.

Sometimes, it's the attention to detail that takes the time, but can set us apart from other tilers and bathroom fitters; including having to scribe and cut the edge of tiles to form a close a bond as possible to the neighboring textured tile.

That same attention to detail and consideration comes through in all the work we do.

A small ensuite bathroom from last year. Sometimes the smallest rooms are not always the easiest, and this was no exception. But the end result always gives a sense of satisfaction, even though the air was blue at times (removal of tiles stuck to plasterboard for instance). Wall panelling in the shower area, with tiles floor to ceiling in the rest of the room. New floor complete with boarding and extra insulation , and the addition of a dual control towel radiator to finish it off.

Job all finished and customer very happy. Although the new large format tiles aren't an exact match to the design of the old ones, they certainly compliment them. A frameless sliding shower door, and large format tiles were used to reduce the amount of channels and grout lines they would have to keep clean, even though it meant cutting the tiles outside, down 2 flights of concrete stairs.

Although it wasn't the easiest job, they were the nicest couple! Spent ages listening to his stories from when he lived in London 60 odd years ago. A lovely chap, caught by dementia, but so happy to put a smile on his face, and it was a pleasure to be able to help them out.
Makes the tough times of scrabbling around on the floor, and lifting heavy glass panels all worthwhile.

Current small project. Remove bathroom and replace with full shower tray and sliding door. Bit of a patch as the rest of the bathroom isn't being touched so having to be very careful with transition from old tiles to new. New 1200 x 600 large format tiles going in today. 24th Oct 2025.

I've seen some poor workmanship over my time, but don't think i've seen this before! A double socket with only 1 wire. Really needed to trace the wire to find out where it came from, especially as the wire was coming out of the side with no other sockets on that plane.

Detector traced the buried wire route and found this! Now to uncover completely and see what's going on.

When you find that the fixing for the dishwasher door is exactly where it's been pre-drilled out for the hinge. Hot melt...

This 'orrible weather at the moment is enough to dampen (literally) anyone's spirits; So perhaps it's time to start looking ahead to Easter, spring, and even the summer, for those home projects, the ones that put a smile on your face, cheer you up and make your home a place to be proud of!
