So that's it. The end of an era and the last bathroom installed by Thompson's Services.

Yes we had issues like a totally replaced floor due to the original timbers being a bit 'rotten' because of leaks in the original wetroom.

Yes we took longer than expected due to labour issues being a person down.

But this wetroom came out brilliantly.

With a mix of grey and wood effect tiles on the floor to accent the original features, a new wetroom former with linear drain, new simply gloss tiles to the walls, a 500mm vanity unit with two drawers for storage, a chrome towel rail, simple WC and screen along with new fire and shower rated LED downlighters and 12V IP44 rated extract fan.

But to top it off a lovely Mira Sport 10.8kw electric shower with Airboost technology which boosts the shower performance.

A fitting wetroom to bow out on.

Thank you as well to two awesome customers who, having had us install their kitchen previously, allowed us to just get on and give them a wetroom the mother in law would be proud of 😉

We ve had so many repeat customers over the last ten years and we've enjoyed the fact we must have done something right to get repeat business with some customers paying thousands for their works to be carried out. Makes us very humble.

But as they say, it's always better to go out on a high.

So we've put the cat out, turned off the lights and shut the door on this.

Thanks to everyone over the last twelve years that made jobs like this possible, especially our suppliers who without you guys our jobs would have been a lot harder.

This is a very hard post to write but as some of you know the decision has been made to close Thompson's Services as of Friday 29th July 2022.

This decision has not come lightly.

Factors that have led to this decision have been both physical and mental issues, as well as the current financial climate.

Over the last twelve years we've met some incredible people and carried out some fantastic work.

In places we've struggled. We had times where customers have not paid for their work and we've worked for some clients who have pushed us to our absolute limits with their demands. Fortunately these have been few and far between with some clients becoming great lifelong friends.

We've learned a lot and have grown in knowledge and become more understanding and been able to provide increasingly better service over the last twelve years.

Unfortunately, as with a lot of things, all good things do come to an end.

I've employed some awesome people in that time. They've gone on to work for their parents company, relocated to other parts of the country and others have changed direction. Everyone of these people have left a lasting impression on me and I wish them good luck for the future where ever they are and what ever they do.

To any customers that we've promised to carry out work for if we haven't been in touch yet, we will contact you over the next few weeks.

To our customers both old and new over the last twelve years a big thank you for your business and allowing us to build your dream kitchens and bathrooms as well as carrying out electrical and plumbing work.

We wish everyone the best of luck for the future and stay safe. I feel its going to get a little bumpy out there.

So we ve done another bathroom. This one almost broke us due to issues we found so apologies to any one waiting for us to carry out your works - we will get to you over the next couple of weeks so bear with us.

I can't show the finished result as the client won't see it until the weekend so watch this space for final pics.

So from starting and removing all unwanted items, to finding dry rot in a stud wall caused by no DPC which meant completely rebuilding, plastering and painting this wall also caused by a poorly installed bath, then finding no insulation in the roof void, no extract fan and a drain pipe spilling water directly down the roof above causing ingress of water through the roof tiles it certainly was damage control.

But fast forward to completion with a fresh new minimal look, niche for storage, everything in the wet area completely waterproofed and new modern fittings and accessories with a traditional contemporary look it really is a transformation.

It's been a while since posting on here........ so it's great to share some good news.

Well done to AJ, our first year apprentice who successfully nailed her first on site assessment toward her NVQ today.

Starting the day nervously she soon got into her stride and completed the assessment with no issues providing evidence of successful works carried out.

She will admit herself that some parts of her apprenticeship are alot harder than others but she's progressing well (even though she thinks she is nt) and is beginning to show understanding in what is an ever evolving trade.

Well done Alicia. One very proud boss here. 👍

So two weeks in and this young lady has impressed me.

She is sassy, intelligent and picks things up quickly but isn't afraid to ask questions. She's picking things up at a good pace.

Since she's been on board with Thompson's Services I ve been impressed with her attitude and maturity. She's not only carried out some electrical work but she's assisted in installing natural wood worktops, installed doors and hinges, painted, drilled holes with core bits, installed outside taps and sockets and started getting stuck into the works of a kitchen installer.

She is personable, fun but above all she's very unique. I see big things in this young ladies future.

Great to have you on board AJ, can't wait to assist you in your journey to become a fully qualified spark.

What a day. From Redruth to Looe, to Loe Beach, to Helston, to Penryn to St Erth and back to Redruth. But dealt with some awesome people today along the way.

But the pinnacle was the special waffle made for me by Jane@Loe Beach Cafe. Absolutely scrumptious. Can't wait until they add it to their menu.

What a cracking place to work and live.

A little update to the completed kitchen post yesterday.

Our customer sent these pics with all their bits and pieces back in.

What a lovely, homely kitchen it now is. Absolutely love this design.

Onto the next project.....
