The team at and I have been working on a very special garden, peeling back the layers, reusing old materials, selecting new materials to compliment the old, protecting old shrubs and trees and creating a garden that works in harmony with this Victorian home. This is just a sneak peek. There's much more to share with you when the planting establishes.

🌧 After one of the wettest winters in recent memory, it’s easy to assume our gardens are still well hydrated… but the reality is quite the opposite.

☀️ We’ve suddenly moved into a very dry spell, and soil moisture levels are now extremely low. Nurseries are already advising that plants need support to stay healthy as we head into the growing season.

🌿 This is particularly important for trees, hedges and large shrubs planted within the past 3 years.

💧These plants are still establishing and will benefit hugely from consistent watering now.

A few simple tips:
• Water deeply rather than little and often
• Focus on the base of the plant, not the leaves
• Give hedges and trees a proper soak rather than a quick sprinkle

🪵 Mulching also makes a big difference. Even if your beds were mulched when planted, it’s very likely that material has now broken down into the soil. If you can’t see a clear layer when you gently scrape the surface, it’s worth topping up with 5–8cm of compost, manure or bark to help lock in moisture, especially around thirstier plants like hydrangeas.

Even established gardens can start to feel the stress surprisingly quickly in these conditions.

If in doubt, water. It will make all the difference to how your garden performs over the coming months.

👩‍🌾 Happy gardening!

Good gardens begin with proportion, flow and structure.

Each garden masterplan resolves levels, sightlines and how a space will actually be lived in — before construction begins.

Every line has intent. 🌿

3D visualisations allow clients to understand scale, levels and flow — particularly in complex or sloping gardens.

They turn drawings into lived space and remove uncertainty before the build begins.

At Laura’s Gardens, we’re fortunate to work with the very talented David Guisbourne of - a valued creative partner in bringing our designs to life.

People often see a finished garden and assume it is simply about planting. In reality, a full garden transformation is a carefully structured journey.

It begins with understanding how you live and how you want the garden to feel.

The site is then surveyed, with levels, light and soil conditions all carefully considered. The architecture of your home and the way you want to use the space for play, sport, relaxation, entertaining, working, growing or yoga all inform the design.

Concepts evolve in both 2D and 3D and are refined in collaboration with engineers and specialist consultants.

Every decision considers structure, seasonality and how the garden will mature over time.

The beauty at the end is the result of that considered process, designed to stand the test of time and improve with every season.

Where do you put your garden room?

Most people butt it up against a boundary.

Our advice? Be bold. Make it a feature. Surround it with plants.

Maybe add on an outdoor kitchen nearby.

The result?

A real destination that feels part of the garden, not an add-on.

Plant delivery days are always happy days. All the time spent planning, measuring, sourcing and organising are worth it when the green stuff arrives.

🌿 A very personal “garden of gardens", our latest design is shaped around intention, beauty and balance.

🫒 From the gentle welcome of a Serpentine Drive to a calm Mediterranean Courtyard, a romantic Secret Garden, an Elegant Terrace, a serene Asian Corner and a dramatic Prairie Garden—every zone has a purpose and a mood.

🙏 Personal objects and favourite plants are woven into the design, and the plan is guided by Feng Shui in line with the client’s philosophy, to support health and wellbeing.
