Longdean Park, Hemel Hempstead A bold reinvention of a family home.
What started as a tired 183m² house has become a one‑of‑a‑kind 1,000m² home — designed from the ground up to feel homely, stylish and unmistakably original.
The brief was clear: maximise the plot, make every inch work hard, and create a design that blends modern character with timeless warmth. No pastiche, no copy‑and‑paste architecture — just a home with soul.
Set within the Longdean Park private estate (and its famously particular design committee), we navigated height limits, boundary constraints, mature trees and a sloping site.
The result? A beautifully balanced two‑style concept: a refined, traditional frontage that opens into a contemporary, light‑filled rear with sweeping glazing and south‑facing views.
Inside, the heart of the home is a dramatic double‑height living space, supported by generous family rooms, a luxury master suite, and a full basement with games room, cinema and direct garden access. And the client’s favourite spot? The covered outdoor living area — used all year round.
A truly bespoke, energy‑efficient home designed for real life, real flow and real joy.
