ly, to create a bespoke interior that not only looks beautiful but is liveable and inviting and belongs to them, because after all, it is their space, not mine. I understand that a successful project is not just about the finished result but the journey taken to get there, and so I take great pride on the level of attention and customer service I offer every client. For this reason it is important that at the start of the project we establish that we are a good fit for each other. I also limit the number of projects I take on at any one time to ensure I give each design the care and attention it needs.

What do I notice when I walk into a property I’m going to stage?

Quite a lot!

I’m immediately looking at the things a buyer is likely to notice, sometimes without even realising it themselves.
Is the room easy to understand?

Does the furniture make the space feel bigger or smaller?

Is there too much competing for attention?

Are there areas that feel dark or neglected?

Does each room have a clear purpose?

And perhaps most importantly…

Can I see the potential?

That last one is really important.

I’m not looking to strip all the personality out of a home. I’m looking for the balance between making it feel welcoming and helping a potential buyer picture their own life there.

Good staging is often about making the right changes rather than making lots of changes.

Selling your home? Don’t underestimate the power of a good first impression.

Before a potential buyer even walks through the front door, they may already have formed an opinion from the photographs online.

A little pause before September…

The late August Bank Holiday always feels like a lovely reminder to slow down for a moment before autumn gets properly underway.

I’ll be spending mine doing a mixture of things I love; spending time with family and friends, enjoying some downtime and, of course, getting some training in for my next big challenge.

In September I’m taking on a 5km sea swim on the South Coast which feels like a suitably ambitious challenge to keep me motivated!

There’ll probably be plenty of swimming, walking, good food and hopefully a little sunshine thrown in too.
I love what I do with Loke Interiors, but I’m also a big believer that life can’t all be about work. Taking a bit of time to recharge usually means I come back with a clearer head and lots of new ideas.

So, whatever you’re doing this Bank Holiday weekend, I hope you get some time to enjoy the things, and people, that make you happy.

Looking back at one of my favourite projects...

Do you love pattern but struggle to know how to use it in your home?

The good news is there are no hard and fast rules, but these tips will help you create a scheme that feels balanced and intentional:

You can use pattern to highlight a space. For example a floral fabric used to dress your window draws your eye.

Don’t just think of pattern in wallpaper and fabric. Use your imagination, tiles are great for adding pattern.

Pick one starting pattern that is bold and then add smaller patterns and plains in coordinating colours.

Remember, pattern adds personality. Whether it's through wallpaper, fabrics, tiles or artwork, don't be afraid to have a little fun with it.
