Originally trading as K&GA Hedley since 1962. by my Mother and Father, the business was closed when they retired and we moved our business in. We have traded as Period Stone for many years and did trade from Gallerie Antiques in Hainault.

We stock Metal items too. Displayed in the front garden of our grade 2 listed historic building. Some unusual garden ornaments, many are not the usual garden centre stock. In the 60's 70's and 80's everyone had concrete garden ornaments, it was a huge industry we were churning out tons of items a week.

It`s a shame, people don't tend to visit here much any more, sometimes we don`t see a soul for days, the trade went slowly downhill from around 15 to 20 years ago.

Like many small antique shops, nurseries and reclaim yards in this area, this garden used to be packed with visitors every weekend, it was a famous place to visit, we still really do have some great stuff to use in the garden, weekends are very quiet nowadays.

WE ARE BETWEEN ROCHFORD AND HAWKWELL ESSEX NEAR SOUTHEND ON SEA, WITH GOOD ROAD LINKS TO THE M25. Your parents may have brought you here as a child, we have the recently refurbished C**k Inn Country pub a short walk along the road selling food and drinks. During summer we try and stock some very cheap planted up flower pots and baskets but for more specialised flowers we have a plant nursery/ growers, along the lane opposite.

Originally trading as K&GA Hedley from 1962 by my Mother and Father, that business was closed when they retired and a while later we moved our business called Period Stone in.

Margaret and I have traded as Period Stone for many years and originally sold to the wholesale trade and retailed from Gallerie Antiques in Hainault until they closed.

This my "Tell it like it is bit "......Some of the Metal items we sell are end of the line or manufacturers returns, they represent great value for money compared to what you would pay in most Garden Centres and more often than not are from the same Importer....but please bear in mind that most of these items are made down to a cheap price in China.

The paint finish on many of the metal items is very thin and we recommend that you assume it to be an undercoat and paint it with an exterior metal paint asap.

They will fade in bright sunlight and will rust quickly if left in the rain, you can spray them with WD40 or clear Lacquer, that may help but I can`t guarantee it, at least you would have paid a fair price for it.
